BIO
A thoroughly accomplished, self-taught musician, Helio Schiavo is proficient in all styles of drumming,from Brazilian to traditional and modern jazz to progressive-rock-fusion.
Embarking upon the international music scene at an early age,by 1967,he was the key factor,in the original sound of Baden Powell,one of Brazil's most respected and gifted guitar player and composer.As such,their association lasted through 1974,during which time they toured extensively througtout Europe and Japan,recording half a dozen on studios and "live"albuns together.
Since 1974, Helio has recorded and toured the world with virtually every major traditional Brasilian music star. As such,he has colaborated with:
Paulo Moura,A Fina Flor do Samba,Clara Nunes,Beth Carvalho,
Jair Rodrigues,Maria Creusa,Som Sete,Roberto Ribeiro
Almir Guineto,João Nogueira,Leny Andrade,
Tania Maria,Zeca Pagodinho,Martinho da Vila,Thiago de Mello to name just a few.
It was during a 1987 tour of the USA with Martinho da Vila,that Helio decided to tranfer his residence to New York City,where he has never been idle since.
