Garage punk instrumentals with surf, buzz & twang

About Me

Buy the latest KO release, our splendid Topplers Records ep of Bollyood/Ramones covers. It is terrific. It has SINGING on it, courtesy of Mick. It's at http://www.topplers.net/shop/shop.html, or right here on Robert Maxell's one and only Rupert House of Coffees. For UK and the rest of Europe, click the following button which will ask you to part with £4.50 through paypal:If you're outside UK/Europe, you'll love our wine and cheese, but hate the fact we want more cash from you. £6 in all: click here:In 2007, we have also released "The Foreign Sounds of the Knockouts", a rather slipshod new CD album (confusingly not featuring any Indian music) It's a very limited release, in every sense of the word; but one dearly cherished by the band members. It's not as polished as the 2005 classic, System One. Buy either here. Now. For £6.50. Click on this button and type in which of the two you want if you're a UK/Europe KO-o-phile:If you're outside Europe, hard luck. Really. You're probably from the USA. No matter, you can still get a KO album by clicking the button and letting us know which you want (polished punkypop or noxious noise) by hitting the following button and agreeing to transfer £8 to our fancy European bank account in Luton, Beds:You can buy CLOD MAG and BOOKS from the Clod myspace page, www.myspace/clodmagazine. You can get various other bits, probably at different rates and everything from the orders page of our website, www.theknockouts.org.uk.Here are a couple of our Bollywood tunes set to video by Mick. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxQNC-UypDgFinally, if you want to join The Knockouts, write and let us know WHY. And how, exactly, your upbringing and life experiences make you suitable for the post. If you're our age, suffered either Slip End or Caddington as a child, think Johnny Aston only walked on water AFTER he left Man U, love Bob Hatton's mouie, think Link Wray and The Ramones are cutting edge and like supping and feeling superior at beer festivals, you might stand a chance.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: theknockouts.org.uk
Band Members: Andy Westmalle - guitar, J Hackson - keys and Clod magazine, T Fitzagre - percussion and pr, E Smoke - drums
Influences: Bleepy stuff, twangy stuff and heavy drumming/percussive stuff - also Indian Cinema pop tunes, Rock and Roll/punk 50's to present day (with heavy concentration in the 60's and 70's), Thrilled Skinny, The Keatons, Shrug, The Losers, The Rosehips, Pregnant Neck, Death by Milkfloat, Gag, Fellows of Flitwick, Topplers Recs etc. Link Wray, Devo, Herb Alpert plus many obvious others - Wire, Fall; Leerdammer cheese; Buff Medways, Kinks; Badger breweries; Swell Maps, Booker T; Chillis/olive/garlic; nuggets, nougart, pebbles, puddles. We are influenced by the weather and tend to avoid exposure to precipitants, except for snow, sometimes. We are influenced by dirt. One of our number is rural-phobic; one likes running free in ditches. We listen to BBC Radios 2,3 and 4. Never Radio 1. Not any more. We sometimes come across as off-ish; sometimes we come across as odd people you wouldn't want to go out for a drink with. Most people we know don't drink with us. We are dreary drunks.
Sounds Like: We sound like four enthusiasts playing hammed-up riffs on bad equipment. Millions have done it. Our twists are no vocals, bass or apparent quality control, except in our warped minds. Go for downloads here and at our website www.theknockouts.org.uk (STOP PRESS: LOADS MORE FREE DOWNLOADS HAVE JUST BEEN UPLOADED ONTO OUR WEBSITE) We would like to do more types of stuff, but are bound by limitations and the awareness that we could go all twiddly-bonk and floral. We're like a cheese sandwich with too much onion and/or lime pickle. The summer of 2007 has seen us flat out and exhausted with a load of releases. First out; "The Foreign Sounds of The Knockouts", which is right old racket. Far more refined, comparatively, is the Topplers' VINYL and cd release of four Indian Cinema themed tunes. See www.topplers.net. An album of Ant Chap produced Eastern Europop instrumental pophits will also be lobbed out by the same label, hopefully, before not too long.
