About Me

Once upon a time, not all that long ago, a baby girl was born. She was brought into this world in the midst of an electrical storm (some say she brought the storm with her) in the fair 'burb of Westwood, New Jersey. The baby girl grew to be a happy, mild mannered child, and despite her abilities to raise the dead and set things on fire with the power of her mind, she had a happy, normal childhood. She wrote of the wonders of an obscure pink planet, refused shoes at all costs and took an early feminist stance by tossing away all her tousers and insisting to be clad in dresses only, the frillier the better. One day in summer 1988, our young heroine found out that she was to move to the city of London, in faraway England. Her concerns were raised: "What will happen to my Barbies?," she thought. Nevertheless, a month later our heroine and her family (and Barbies) made the long schlep to Londontown, and our heroine's life changed for good. Growing up in London the little girl learned to wear spikey collars, drink beer, dance to loud, brash music, be a ninja and pass out under kitchen tables. She learned to swear with the best of them, buried herself in old, dusty tomes to fill her mind with magic and stories, and developed a reasonable but expensive penchant for shoes and make up. Nowadays our girl works a day job whilst attending evening classes at university. She reads, she paints, she photographs and she falls over a lot. She takes music very seriously and is often found shouting in pubs to various groups of people about politics, literature and that long thought about mystery - if cavemen and astronauts were to fight, who would win? (cavemen). I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4

My Interests

Everything except math, cars and anything business related. Of special interest is music, medicine, religion, history (particularly medieval), mythology, human beings, cats, literature and smoothies.

I'd like to meet:

Cats, cats and more cats, Tom Robbins, Billy Corgan, various dead people, nice people, interesting people, funny people, a synaesthete, someone with a split brain, a bad bad rubber piggie and my doppleganger.

Music:

Instead of listing off everything I've ever liked, I'll name a few fundamentals: Smashing Pumpkins, Tori Amos, Mediaeval Baebes, Current 93, Nick Cave, Einsteurzende Neubauten, Delerium, Dead Can Dance, Zombina & The Skeletones, The Ramones, Dead Kennedys, Beethove, Chopin, The Dresden Dolls, PTV, Sonic Youth, Curve, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Miranda Sex Garden, Queen Adreena, Pop Will Eat Itself, and that's all I can come up with now, but I know I'm forgetting something major...

Movies:

Crappy horror films, random independent films, silly blockbuster films (some), period flicks, arthouse, all sorts.

Television:

Buffy, Angel, Six Feet Under, 24, ER, and House. Of course, about five of those are off the air, so I shall add Lost onto this list to make up the numbers. And because I'm really quite hooked.

Books:

I read pretty much everything. My favourite books are: The Secret History by Donna Tartt, most of Tom Robbins' works, and The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood. I take Nietzsche, Voltaire and Kierkegaard very seriously, I adore Christopher Moore books and am on a mission to read every religious text ever written. I realise this might take awhile.

Heroes:

I'll get back to you.

No, no you haven't. Most obnoxious quote ever. In response to the Baghdad Museum lootings, Donald Rumsfeld says: "how many vases can there be?" I don't like war. I'm a pacifist. I refuse - ...
