About Me
I was born in the South Bronx and over the years lived in several other major metropolitan areas including Philly, D.C., Los Angeles, and Honolulu. Growing up on both coasts absorbing hip-hop from its beginnings helped me to develop my rap technique, which blends both East and West Coast lyrical styles creating a sound that’s part old school and new school at the same time…the future of the funk.Since the late 90’s, I was a member of the hip-hop crew - The Liberaters. As the co-host of the hip-hop television show “The Liberaters,†I conducted various interviews of hip-hop legends such as Common, the GURU, the RZA, Slum Village, the GZA, Bahamadia, Black Eyed Peas, Souls of Mischief, and too many others to name. Look for the new season of the show on Santa Barbara Community Access Channel 17 in 2008.I have performed at a variety of venues in Santa Barbara including the Sand Bar (formerly Calypso), SoHo, Cooney’s, the Rocks, the Coach House, and the Victoria Theatre. In 2006, I performed with Matt McCavene winning the KJEE Battle of the Bands, and opened for Eddie Money at the Black & Blue Ball.Recently, I have been recording with Mike McHugh another local musician who plays multiple instruments. Together we have produced my latest series of songs on my CD titled “The Positive Provocativeâ€. This CD features me producing, singing, and rapping creating a well-rounded sound not easily categorized as just rap or hip-hip; shaped by the diverse musical influences including Genesis, Isley Brothers, Iron Maiden, Hall & Oates, Earth, Wind & Fire, Perry Ferrell, Commodores, and Stevie Nicks.
