JONA showcases an explosive dancefloor jump-up assault. His choices of vinyl has a twist to mash up old and new tracks to form a new school classic anthem. JONA's sound encompasses all styles and genres, from Reggae, Hip Hop, R&B, Freestyle, Metal, and more to get the people dancing! His philosophy towards the scene is "EACH ONE TEACH ONE!" He believes that drum & bass is the future of electronic music in which it will infest everyone's minds, hearts, and souls. When the junglists hear JONA's set, a constant smile, head bob, and an overwhelming bassface occurs.
Born and raised in LA, yet was a resident of Walnut. His influences in music was of Old School Freestyle, and Hip Hop (basically of the underground). He attended some hip hop sessions, which included Project Blowed and any event that showcased turntablism. JONA started to attend massive parties early '98, such as URBAN PHENOMENON, AUDIOTISTIC, NOCTURNAL WONDERLAND. AUDIOTISTIC was the basis of love of all music because of all the different rooms of music genres. He was truly introduced to drum & bass by his friend's CD of Aphrodite. Slowly moving away from the other electronic genres and immersing himself in the drum & bass scene because of the intense beat that simulated an alternate form of fast hip hop beats with a fat miami type bassline.
With the love of Drum & Bass, JONA bought his first set of decks in 2000. Then he joined the Grapevinez Street Team in 2003. JONA aka DOSES was not acknowledged as a DJ until his first online radio debut on SUPERNORMOUS radio along side with Big Rig and Toxic. First appearance at a club, under the name DOSES alongside w/ MC J-Tec & Solomon MC, was at Intercept held at the Spy Club in West Covina. During that time, he released his first promotional demo- DOSES: Rough-Cut. In August '05, he played at Launch at the Dragonfly patio. After coming back from his trip from Europe & London, DOSES started to represent himself as JONA! In 2005, JONA played B2B with Adamantium f/ Solomon MC at an DNB Art Event. October '05, along came HISTORY 2, JONA & Lynk opened the night in the 818 Room. A year had past because of his dedication to work and promoting, he played his first gig in 2006 at Bridges @ Zen Sushi. His last appearance was at Grapevinez event, 818 XMAS KICKBACK and with his next promotional demo- JONA "self titled."
JONA's future is leading towards producing tracks and becoming a valid respected DJ. He is currently working on projects with NeuroPunk, Solomon MC, MC J-Tec, and Sinatra. He would like to be signed by a top notch record company, to travel the world, and to play at massive parties to display his dubs and DJ skills!
