Lucky Luke

Promising local band

About Me

Lucky Luke is the brainchild of folk overlord Simon Shaw, formerly of Glasgow legends V-Twin, and Morag Wilson, Falkirk’s hottest librarian. As a duo they contributed to many compilations with their dreamy, Nico inspired songs, until they grew into a droning, fluting, eight legged beast at the beginning of 2003.Trimmed down to a 6 piece, the band supported Teenage Fanclub on their UK tour in May 2005, and their beautiful debut album, Patrick The Survivor was released on CD and vinyl in June, garnering great reviews from NME, Uncut and Mojo.2006 saw Chaffinch records releasing a split EP with Lucky Luke, King Creosote, Immigrant and South Downs, and the band playing as a showcase artist for South By Southwest in Austin, Texas.Last year, Edinburgh label Wee Black Skelf released a 7" of the traditional songs Hori Horo/Reynardine, and they played at the Portishead curated ATP Festival. They are currently putting the final touches to their 2nd album, recorded at the Diving Bell and Yip Jump studios, Glasgow. The first single to be taken from this album, Out Of My Tree (listen above), will be available on 7" vinyl from Wee Black Skelf soon.
