Skeleton Bob

About Me

Songs about Glasgow that sound like they're about America; songs about girls who did us wrong/proud; songs about The Doublet, and yes, songs about wanting to be Merle Haggard. The songs will no doubt become significantly better when Jode does in fact become Merle...In a cavernous Glasgow cathedral many years ago a drunken-hearted boy lay lamenting the badness of girls and goodness of whiskey along with the only men who understood him; Merle Haggard, Buck Owens and Hank Williams. Thus Skeleton Bob was born.Currently enjoying life as an oltime melody-driven three-piece, Skeleton Bob can often be found peddling their wares around Glasgows best live music venues. The trio comprising drummer Eilidh Rodgers, bassist Richie Henderson and singer/guitarist Jody Henderson, hope to soothe your trodden heart with a filthy-sweet sound thats been likened to Uncle Tupelo, The Handsome Family, Evan Dando, and The Jesus and Mary Chain."You can actually picture the three of them chewing their baccy and swinging in their wicker rocking chairs, softly purring their throaty musings with banjo and pedal steel round the ole saloon." - The Skinny"Wistful country-tinged banjo-coustica with mouth organ and flat caps, singing of local heroes and regulars at The Doublet [the West End's best bar]. When they sing about being on a westbound train through dusty towns, and you realise it's probably Partick, Anniesland, Dalmuir... there's a splendid shiver down the spine. This is not provincialism, it's beautiful realism. Neatly worded, and full of nice musical surprises, like the aforementioned banjo kicking in, this is an organic treat, as completely satisfying as a Greggs pasty with proper ingredients." - 13th Note Preview.
