My name is Romina Johnson and I was born in Rome, in the year 1973. I'm happy to say that I was born into a musical family. I have one brother and two sisters.
In the 1960 my father left the United States to travel the world to pursue his career as a musician.
He started as a bass player and by the 1970s, became a famous solo singer in Italy and Europe.
I've been surrounded by music and musicians! All my life. I grew up listening mostly to soul, funk, R&B and jazz along the way....... right now I am into gospel......I'm loving it!
At home my mother used to play me people like A. Franklin, J. Brown, S. Wonder, O'Jays, Motown, prince, and many others. By the age of 4, i had dreams, i wanted to be a singer just like my father, I used amazed by his talent.
I started working as I dancer and as a backing singer at the age of 12.
I had my first musical experience touring with ''Wess Johnson'' (my dad).
Later on at the age of 20 I joined a band called "Second Floor", And signed my first deal with Rossiter Road. We recorded the first ep, "Love and Happiness", also the original version of "Moving too fast" from the album called '"simply passion'".
After 3 years band split up, however I continued as solo artist. I moved from Rome to in London 1999. It was a challenge for me and I wanted to have a break in EuropeAt that time I was recording mostly dance tracks to try to get my name in the street.
Dancing with you " (remix by Bini and Martini) introduced me into the underground dance scene in Europe.
In the 2000, was a very successful year with the UK number 2 chart "moving too fast" remixed by the Artful Dodger. Things then started to really take off as it went to n0. 2 in the national charts the record sold around 5000 copies in Europe and was very played in the UK and European radios.
I released "Superbad" in Europe & Japan and performed over 90 dates in the UK and Europe throughout the following years.
The pressure of scoring a hit did not effect as i always lived following my heart and my true feelings.
I've been fallen under more soulful wings, featuring on d-influence d-vas album, full flava (dome) and realising "what can I do" on Urbanstar label and on the London Soul compilation which features names such as Omar,
AngieStone, Terry Walker, Lewis Taylor, Don-e etc.Another recent release in 2006,"As good as this"is part of the "Uk fix" compilation by BBC DJ Gchild.
Whatelse?
In the summer 2005 I came back to London from 51 date Europen tour with "US3", had a lot of FUN!To be continued .......................................
