About Me

First I am an artist. Visual, Fine and Graphic. It's how I feed myself. See: http://www.gowiggle.com .

I am a Host/ DJ on XM Satellite Radio's channel 72 Beyond Jazz. I am a music junkie. A LIVE music junkie especially! The first step to recovery is admitting your problem. However I am not sold on the whole recovery thing....
I am also Publicist for The Jazz Mandolin Project, Jamie Masefield, and by default MaMaVig, classic, classy, talented and edgey...I think Neil Young summed it up best when he said:LIVE MUSIC IS BETTER!!! BUMPERSTICKERS SHOULD BE ISSUED!!!!"
I suppose I should say what I am all about as far as my show, and what this platform I have been blessed with is, to me...
It is my absolute pleasure to make it a personal mission to seek out bands and artists who are eclectic, push the envelope of Jazz/ funk/ fusion/ instrumental/ "jamband"/ boogaloo/ New Orleans music and can reach not just my younger listeners but those of the Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock schools... not to mention the fusion era and beyond. I am trying to bridge all those worlds together... I figure if you like one you will most likely dig or at least appreciate the others...
I also make it a personal mission to have a rapport with bands, artists and their management to get a direct idea, response and impression of what it is they are up to... what feeds them... inspires them! I try to see as much live music as possible, at any given opportunity, to experience for myself and therefore talk about the uniqueness each one brings to the listener, and in turn my channel and show. I love talking about fabulous musicians as much as talking TO them, and of course telling you- the audience... and of course the musicians benefit from the on-air love... I feel like I am giving the gift of music to my listeners. That is something I am thankful for every day.
I am NOT an industry schmoozer. At all. I am all about the MUSIC, and helping the traveling hard working touring not-so-glamorous MUSICIAN get some reach... working for the good of this industry which tends to be... well let's just say not so good. There are amazing talents out there that fall by the wayside with terrestrial radio not being paid to play them... I am all about changing that!
XM has over 8 million subscribers and growing. We have a HUGE reach... I have been blessed with this platform for whatever reason... I can play what I want... who I want... when I want... and I will continue to use this position for the GOOD OF MUSIC. I feel that if musicians can give me the gift of incredible music that makes me grin ear to ear... then the least i can do is share that with as many folks as I can.
I will see you at a show... no doubt!

Movies:

Caddy Shack because it is HILARIOUS and classic and will always be my all time favorite HANDS DOWN! Harold and Maude because it will always provide a huge life lesson to anyone who watches it... every time you watch it. One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest because it is not only classic Jack but brilliant in too many ways to list here. Best In Show because it is also brilliant in it's subtle hilarity... and there are many many more but that is all I care to list...

Television:

It's now officially hockey season and subscribing to NHL CenterIce... well that preempts any and all other TV... but when there is no game on (HA!) I enjoy ESPN, anything on the Food network but especially Alton Brown (love that scientific geek thing!), Discovery Channel, Family Guy...

Books:

Currently I am reading "Into Thin Air" by Jon Krakaur, and also discovering a new-to-me author Harry Crews, I just re-read "Into The Wild" by Jon Krakauer.... I also just finished "Lucky" by Alice Sebold. I read alot.... apparently. My favs are many but include and are NOT AT ALL limited to: Any Tom Robbins book but especially the first one i read "Still Life With Woodpecker". "A Confederacy of Dunces" by John Kennedy Toole! The Tao Of Pooh. The Te Of Piglet. Zen and the Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance. Atlas Shrugged. A Walk Across America. Any Hunter S. Thompson writings.
How about authors? Hunter S Thompson, Tolstoy, Chris Rose, Carlos Castaneda, Lame Deer, Tom Robbins, Tolkien, Douglas Adams, C.S. Lewis, Maurice Sendak, Charles Bukowski, Jon Stewart

Heroes:

My true heroes are anyone who powers through adversity, those who take life by the balls and do what they love despite all obstacles. Walls are put in front of you to test how much you desire something... and if you truly want that "something" it is worth the effort to achieve it... See RANDY PAUSCH ... I strive to be remotely like him...
Thi is great!
In 1986, Frank Zappa appeared on Crossfire to discuss rock lyrics and censorship. Let's just say the enchange got a little heated.
Then he appeared again a year later:
Best quote in this: "Mr Zappa do you think rock music promotes AIDS?"SCO!!!!
