Find out How a Burnt Out Corporate Broker left the Corporate Grind and Now Works Full-Time From Home.
Hello everyone out there. Thank you for visiting my page. My name is Matthew Frieling. I am a writer, a musician, a world traveler, an inspiration to everyone that I come in contact with, an entrepreneur, an asset to you, a friend, a brother, and a son.
Who is Matthew Frieling?
I am a native of Hartland, MI...A small town about an hour outside of the confines of Detroit. Growing up in a small town; I always knew that God had bigger plans for me in this Great Big World...boy, was I right. After graduating from Hartland High School, I moved onto obtain my Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Philosophy. Throughout my college career, I also spent some time studying abroad. For anyone that is considering this, I suggest to stop considering and DO IT. It has changed my life in ways I cannot explain. My first trip abroad, I spent 6 weeks backpacking through Switzerland, Italy, and Greece studying Art History and History. I learned so much about culture, art, history, and life that I knew that I had the Traveling Bug and that it was only the beginning. When I returned home from my adventures abroad, I knew my next stop had to be Asia. I was fascinated by the culture and history. Low and behold, a month later I was invited to a Scholar Program to study International Business in China and Tibet. I jumped on the opportunity and the following summer I spent an entire Month with 90 students from all over the world. Talk about culture shock. We toured through Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, and Lhasa, Tibet.
These trips gave me the courage to do anything and that is why I recommend anyone that is considering travel in the early years to do it. It will do a number of things for your future. I built relationships on those trips that will last a lifetime. That, my friend, is invaluable.
After graduating with honors from Eastern Michigan University, I set out to California where I began my career in Corporate Finance. Corporate America is not easy to get by in. I was wasting away, spending most of my life in an office doing something I did not believe in at all and had absolutely no passion about. I had to get out. After 14 months of cold calling, following up, sending e-mails, and pulling my hair out from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday - Friday, I saw no point in tying myself to a career that was not fulfilling. As an entrepreneur at heart, I was searching for a way out. I came across a guy by the name of Ty Coughlin.

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light , not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We were born to make and manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
- Marianne Williamson -
When we are young, much of what we know is based on intuition. Our minds have no boundaries, no limits. Our imaginations carry our knowledge. As we grow, we experience things that place boundaries on our ability to think outside the box. We spend our whole lives learning and unlearning, understanding and misunderstanding, experiencing, placing boundaries, breaking down our imagination; an imagination that once carried our innate ability to create...even more so to think for ourselves. Some of us savor it, even add to it, others forget to, or never cared in the first place. Some call it innocence. I call it hope. It is something I pride myself on preserving.
A genuine person with an analytical mind. I'm a firm believer in work hard, play hard. I uphold my friends and family above all, and don't compromise my beliefs for anything. I push the envelope, and encourage others to be the best they can be...while always pursuing what I feel is right for myself. I love hanging with my friends and family, learning, playing my guitar, traveling, exercising, studying, reading, writing, communicating, and laughing. I am an optimist, with a splash of cynicism. Surrounding myself by those I can learn and grow from, I am interested in people of a different mindset. I bring joy to the lives of many, and am open to meeting just about anyone...without judgement. If you know me, then you probably like me...and if you don't, then you probably should.
A Sample of my writing:
Contours...
As the rising sun illuminates the contours
Where the darkness once hid
The day comes alive
Each crevice weathered from its surrounding environment
Each stone displaced in its own perfection
These hills with their peaks and valleys,
They reflect the perfection in the imperfection of our own lives
These contours are what make us look at today as a new day
These contours are what make us feel so alive.
So do not overlook the importance of each peak and of each valley
Because there is purpose in everything
Even our hardest times.
