CRUZ ONE RECORDS & ENTERTAINMENT (C.O.R.E.), founded by Shaun Cruz, is built upon the themes of socio-economic empowerment and the development of music of substance. Shaun Cruz, born and raised in East Harlem, NY presents an element of hip-hop culture associated with social consciousness and elevation of his people. His artistic confidence and business savvy do not go unnoticed and have helped him obtain federal funding from the East Harlem Business Capital Corporation , a division of the Upper Manhattan Empowerment zone, to help promote the CRUZ ONE movement.
Shaun's gift of lyricism, his energetic performance, and unique humor combine to create a cinematic presentation of real life events through “situational music”. Shaun Cruz’s innate musical talents represent Harlem to the fullest. He blends jazz & blues, flavored with his Spanish roots to command the attention of a generation looking for a big change from the trends in current popular music.No stranger to the stage or to Hip Hop, Shaun has performed and been featured at many events such as 88hiphop.com (an internet-broadcasted showcase) Studio Y on the Metro Channel, and on national tours with various acts from Universal Music Group & MCA Records. He has also competed and won on “It’s Showtime at the Apollo”, the quarterly “Hip-Hop Speaks” conference, and The First Annual Hip Hop Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony leaving the stage victorious and well respected.Performing across the country and adding to his loyal fan base, Shaun strives to connect with and reach as many people as possible. Performances at colleges like Pace University, NYU, Hunter College, Florida A&M and Florida State have established him as an artist identifiable by an audience of diverse lifestyles and backgrounds. This remarkable talent is used to his advantage in other fields of the arts such as his starring role in the feature film, “Fulgazi” and in his national commercial spot for the American Movie Channel.As he moves forward with the release of his album "The Moment Vs. The Future" Shaun continues to innovate by making C.O.R.E. the first federally funded hip hop label, receiving additional grants from the various boroughs of New York City. At the end of 2005, plan for the release of "The Moment Vs. The Future" featuring production by Shaun Cruz, Needlz , The Bootleggers Union, and Shea Taylor.
