About Me

.:: myspace editor ::.
For me, it started off with a plastic guitar - not that I'm the only one. Now I play a fibreglass guitar-I’ve grown-up, but I'm still in the musical world of petrochemicals. I have appeared on stage solo, as a musician and as a poet (and have been published in several journals, in print and online). I was also part of a male/female duo which wore lots of black, sang sad songs with happy tunes, did a bunch of interviews, and always seemed to get gigs that fell on the night of a snowstorm or something. As well, I host an underground radio show.
With mitchell_dot_wave, my goal is to present something that walks the line between smart and catchy. I like a good lyric, but the lyrics don’t have to scream "Look at me, I’m so clever." Lyrics are meant to be sung, not to languish on a lyric sheet. And while I want something smarter than what often is called "commercial" these days, I like a tune that sticks in my head. And let’s face it - a lot of people do.
You’re probably asking, "Is there actually a Mitchell in mitchell_dot_wave?" There is. I'm not going to hide behind some kind of collective name, and make you think that there is a whole crew singing behind me. I write the songs, and I performed mostly everything you’re hearing right now (with the exception of the female vocals - I'm committed to music but there are some life changes I will not make). But this project is not a closed one - there’s room for others to ride the wave.
