New FMA Resource:
I’d like to announce our latest site, EskrimaSpace.com . Although the site has only just officially opened, it is getting some pretty good traffic. The site offers blogs, discussion forums, user profiles and photo galleries. Y’all come by and check it out sometime.
Why Filipino Martial Arts?
I have an instructor's certification in the Defensor Method and an affiliate instructor's certification from the CDF Academy. (Most of my time has been spent in the Defensor Method.) The Defensor Method is a Filipino martial arts system taught by Maha Guro Nate Defensor at the Filipino Kali-Eskrima Academy of Chicago.
Filipino Martial Arts refers to a class of fighting arts that emphasize weapons training such as edged and impact weapons. Other terms which have entered into common usage include Kali and Arnis de Mano (armor of the hand); occasionally the abbreviation FMA (Filipino Martial Arts) is used. Eskrima and Arnis are among the many names primarily used in the Philippines today to refer to these arts. We use single stick, double stick, staff, knife, double knife, sword, double sword, empty hand, and all other variations of weaponry.
I promote Kali Eskrima products such as rattan sticks, kamagong sticks, bahi sticks, and videos online. Come by some time and check out the site. KaliEskrima.Com . I meet a lot of martial artists that way and I am always pleased that our martial arts community is so great to work with.
Even though I carry exotic hardwood sticks, my everyday training sticks are 28" hickory. For some, hickory might not be "oriental enough" but they take a beating and keep on ticking. (That's all I worry about.) Some guys feel American boxing is just not exotic enough until they tie hands with a boxer. LOL
I really love being in this online community with all these martial artists! I've been on the Eskrima Digest since way before it was a digest, but I really like sharing pictures, commenting on your pics, and having private messages. Yall drop me a note when you stop in.
See you in the sticks!
