About Me

The Ballz project grew out of a long time friendship between Scott Christy and Rick Drinkard, who were formerly recording together in a project called "Rare Form." Rare Form was hip hop and rap fused with rock styled choruses. "We simply wanted to rock harder, and when Rick introduced me to Chuck, the Ballz project was born." (Scott). Chuck is also the guitarist in the band "Jam Samich" and had done some open mic nights with Rick's solo band. We got together and immediately started writing these killer rock songs and had fun doing it! Having written the bulk of what will be the first disc, it was time to look for drums and bass to complete the lineup. Chuck had played with Zuby (Bass) before and soon found they were nominated for a Motor City Music Award (as did Scott with his previous band "Skeleton Crew.") Rounding out the lineup needed a guy that could quickly adapt to our writing style on drums. We found our guy and his name is Justin. He is also the drummer of the metal band "Seven Sin Down" and a founding member of that project. Justin has been beating on the skins since he was a wee little lad and comes from a musical family background. He adds a much needed boost to our songs. "Between us all, we've played every major venue in the Detroit area including Pine Knob, The Palace, The State, Harpos, I-Rock, St. Andrews etc....and are looking forward to Rocking out live for all of our fans!

Influences: -----Scott's------ influences are Kiss, ACDC, , Cheap Trick, The Who, Stones, and Beatles. He also really loves late 70's era punk like the Ramones, Sex Pistols, New York Dolls, Dead Boys, Dictators and of course all that Detroit original Rock like the Stooges, MC 5, Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent, Toby Red, Cadilac Kidz, BSA, Marshall Crenshaw and The Romantics. As for the newer Rock, he likes stuff like Breaking Benjamin, Anything from Chris Cornel, Rob Zombie, Chilli Peppers, Jet, Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance (Scott) -----Chuck's----- influences on guitar are Dimebag, Zakk Wylde, Slash, David Gilmour, John Frusciante, Buckethead, John Petrucci, Vai, Warren Haynes, Satriani, Hendrix, Trower, Paul Gilbert, Steve Morse, and Joe Stanley.... Most of his favorite acts revolve around those players but his biggest hero is Johnny Cash who couldn't play a guitar to save his life.-----Zuby's------influences are Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Machine Head, Pantera, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alice in Chains, Johnny Cash, and the list could go on. ------Justin's------ Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), Gene Hoglan (Death), Chris Adler (Lamb of God), Raymond Herrera (Fear Factory), Lars Ulrich, Paul Bostaph (Slayer/Exodus/Testament), Dave Lombardo (Slayer) Vinnie Paul, Machine Head, Testament, Pantera, Halford, Fight, Alice in Chains, and many others, just to name a few.
