Jan Fabricky CH/SK - (Drums) was born in Bratislava, Slovakia in 1964. At age 11 he received his first drumkit and studied with Gabriel Bogyiay(Konservatory Bratislava) and Gyula Kovacs (B. Bartok Institute Budapest.) When he was 13 he became a memeber of a band "Cardus" and a year later he founded with Juraj Burian and Andrej Seban the band "Meeting". As a 15- year -old he played in band "Nervy" and years later together with Andrej Seban, Peter Vazan and Marian Greksa they founded the band "Demikat".After that followed years of work in Slovak Radio and TV Orchestra and a studio band called "VV System" of Vlado Valovic.In 1986 Jan became a member of the group of the renown Slovak jazz singer Peter Lipa.In the same time he was working as a session and live drummer for various bands and singers such as Martha& Tena, Peter & Julia Hecko, Elan, Modus, Berco Balogh, producer Palo Danek and Hungarian keyboardist Gabor Presser. He also worked together with jazz pianist Peter Breiner and bass player Fedor Freso in the band "Klobasa" and "Stoptime" of Matus Jakabcic. In 1989 he moved to Bern, Switzerland where he established himself quickly and became a member of a band called "Ding Dong" with Oli Kuster, Jürg Schmidhauser, Oli Hartung, Menk Grossniklaus and Bernard Bammert. On one of the session Jan met guitarist and soundengineer Benoit Piccand with whom he worked intensively in different jazz/fusion projects with Bob Sheppard, Bob Harrison, Axel Fischbacher, Domenic Landolf, Thomas Reinecke, Raimund Gerstner, Wolfgang Zwiauer and keyboardist Michael Paklin. In the same time Jan was touring Eastern Europe with Polish violine player Krzezimir Debski, pianist Sakczi, Gyula Csepregi on sax and Pal Vasvari on bass. Back in Switzerland Jan was recommended to play with African singer Moudi Cabalou which later on led to work with a producer Phil Carmen. In 1994 Jan moved to L.A. where he studied at the Musicians Institute (PIT) with many world renown percussionists, but Joe Porcaro, Ralph Humphrey and Efrain Torro are the ones that opened Jans's horizon much wider than anybody else. He graduated the school as a "Student Of The Year" with two additional awards: "Best Alround Stylist" and "Best Latin Stylist".In school he met a Finnish and a Dutch guitar player, Antti Kotikoski and Richard Hallebeek, and later on with German bass player J. Kleutgens they founded the band "Generator". In 1996 Jan met a bass player from Cameroon, Andre Manga and a partnership with him led to countless live and studio performances. In 1997 they founded the band "Dumazz".Together they worked as a rhythm section for the guitarist Marc Antoine, toured throughout the USA and played many wellknown jazz festivals. In the same year Jan was involved in the recording of the album "Gibi" of the Turkish singer Sertab Erener and producer and guitarist Demir Demirkan in Istanbul, Turkey. He also performed live with artists such as Steve Oliver,Peter White, Richard Elliot, Rick Braun and many others. In 2002 Jan and his family moved back to Switzerland where he started his recording studio "solidbeat" and his band "J.F.'s Overt Act". He continues working with Marc Antoine besides European artists such as Barbara Dennerlein and others. Jan also works as a teacher and is a drum instructor at the Swiss Jazz School (HKB) in Bern
