Born in Mexico city in 1974, Luis Obregon has written numerous works for the concert hall, for Film and TV. As a pianist he has premiered a number of works by Mexican and American Composers. He began his musical career as guitarist in a rock band. Afterwards he switched to the piano and entered the National School of Music in Mexico city where he studied piano and composition. One year later he won the second prize in a local competition for young pianists. He later moved to the US to study music at Boston University where he received his bachelor's degree in the year 2000. At this University he won the 2000 Malloy Miller's prize for Composition Competition. After graduating he has worked non-stop as a pianist and composer in Spain, Mexico and the US. He is now living in Athens Ohio working on his Master's degree in composition at Ohio University. He recently won a CAP award from American Music Center for his work "Cuauhtli".W-Gap- Intro
