TimmyD Biography
_______________________________________________________
After taking up djing as a hobby at the age
of 16, Timmy D realized that if he was ever going to be able to set himself
apart from other dj’s, he would have to dabble in the world of music
production. So as well as starting to learn the art of djing he joined up for a
music production course that would take him 4 years to complete. In this course
Timmy learnt all about recording bands, the history of popular music, how to
use analogue gear and all the in’s and outs of popular software sequencers. He
recalls remxing such bands as the Bangles with the use of ¼ intch analogue tape
and creating loops from these spliced up pieces of tape, as one of his
favourite past times in the course in the course. Meeting and working with some
of Australias
best rock engineers throughout the course, was the most interesting part, he
remembers.
During and after the course Timmy started to
work on remixs of anything he could gets his hands on just for the experience
and fun of it. This quickly went from being a hobby to an obsession. Amongst
all this Timmy was also djing at pubs, birthdays, house parties and the
occasional club gig here and there. Timmy would often be recognized struggling
down the streets of the city carrying bags of music, 2 cdj 1000’s and his Rane
mixer on his way to play all types of music from Recent Rnb, to hits of the
80’s, to todays latest dance music. Quickly Timmy realized that he wanted to
just concentrate on all areas of dance music and ditch the other genres. Some
of his music influences include Daft Punk, Chirs Lake, Micha Moore, Eric Prydz,
Deadmau5 Tim Le El, Kaskade, T-Rek, Beatrabauken, Midnight Juggernaughts &
Dean Paps
More recently, Timmys regular demo cds have
been impressing dj’s from Melbourne
all the way to LA. In mid 2007 Timmy heard some of the staff, after a gig at
Qbar, talking about how much they liked the Kaskade classic “Its You, Its me.â€
That got him thinking that there needed to be a more upbeat version for the
younger crowds. After a few months of part time work on it, the remix was
complete. Only recently have the Melbourne
dj’s received a copy and so far the word back is extremely positive. With that,
as well as a new dj manager, Becky Blue Eyes, the stage is set for big things.
What does the future hold for this young up and coming dj? You can expcect him
in the near future to be collaborating with local Melbourne artists such as Paul Barbaro (Disco
Punks, Dj’d everywhere), Philthee (TFU, Baroq House), Marcus Knight (Essential
Cutz,Viper,Heist), and Deniii.________________________ ____________________________________

KAYA'S HARDTRYLE SETS
Dj Micky D Biography
The only thing more infectious than Micky D's music is his trademark cheesy grin. One of Sydney's favourite DJs, a night with Micky D is guaranteed to be a night of fun & energy especially if you like it hard and fast! Micky D's style is hard house, hard trance and NRG. His sets are as banging as they are uplifting, combining the driving energy of hard house with the shivers-up-your-back melodies of trance.
Storming onto the Sydney club scene more than 13 years ago, Micky D's technical skill and awesome tune selection is renowned among clubbing connoisseurs. Meanwhile, his addictive, energetic sound and upbeat personality behind the decks continually fire up newcomers to the scene, getting them jumping up and down, smiling from ear to ear and coming back for more.
At the forefront of the current push towards harder dance music in Sydney, Micky D is in his element playing events like Frantic (www.franticsydney.com), Godskitchen, Precinct and BASSCODE @ GPH, where he's supported the likes of Phil Reynolds, K90, LAB 4, BK, Nick Sentience, Daniel Ro, Andy Farley, Paul Van Dyke, Tiesto, Guyver, Steve Hill, James Lawson, DJ Wag, Kai Tracid, Scott Project, Ultra Sonic, Marco V and M.I.K.E. (Push). You can also find him most weekends at UN Nightclub, Daydreams @ Hunter Bar and Cherry @ Space.
Voted one of the top 50 DJs in Australia by inthemix in 2003 and 2005, he scored his first city residence at the Millennium Room playing funky, NRG and trance. Since then Micky D's career has skyrocketed, landing him guest spots and residencies at virtually every big-name venue and party in Sydney, including Gas, Space, Home, ARQ, DCM, NV, Blackmarket, Slip Inn, Mandalay Room, Bay 33, Icebox, MASIF, Utopia, Hyperspeed, Helter Skelter, Fantasia, Slinky, Global Panic, Ultra and Godskitchen.

Reviews“By the time Ed Real came off I wasn’t sure if the final DJ of the night, Micky D could keep us hard dance junkies entertained and excited... He succeeded! When Micky D got behind those decks, he definitely put a smile on my face. When I heard the remix of ‘Let me be your fantasy’ being played, I felt a surge of energy go through me, I just couldn’t stop my feet from bouncing. What a superb tune. I feel Micky D’s got fantastic energy and keeps the crowd enthralled in his gaze. I can’t wait to here this guy play again soon.â€
