Maesyn

After only a moment of discussion and debate, a new genre has been proclaimed, -- "Gypsy-Love-Funk!" (exclamation point included).
Within and without the boundaries of the regulations of this categorization, Maesyn wanders merrily along with her new album, "We are Now.here!"
Third person-ally speaking, Maesyn has been classically trained on violin since she was 3 and a half. After trying to quit the instrument daily for 15 years, she fell madly in love, after being pleasantly bopped on the head by a sudden life influx of jamming, jazz, blues and celtic gypsy fiddling.
On stage, Maesyn dances like a wild banshee, contorting limbs and various appendages into exact rhythmic punctuations. She "paints and pets the rhythm as it cavorts through the air."
Maesyn grew up in a household of musicians, playing in the family band. She played violin in baroque ensemble and orchestra. Her father was a folk musician, and as a young child she'd jump on stage with his band. She always felt most at home on the stage and in the musical womb.
In a formative environment of road tripping harmonies, Maesyn found singing background to be far more fun than singing lead. This became her take on violin as well, as Muddy enjoys creating rhythmic textures far more than soloing.
Maesyn spent many years singing acapella to scratch the harmonic addictive itch, and meanwhile developed a knack for vocal percussion. In certain forests and the occasional airport lobby, Maesyn is notorious for her perpetual , wickedlly dexterous whistle.
A childhood bookworm, she now applies her love of verbiage to her expansive, gritty-sweet voice, and melts her violin, Muddy, into the whirlwind. Jubilant spontanaiety makes her a firecracker of heart-tickling exuberance on stage.
She carries Muddy on her back nearly everywhere she goes - both because they are inseparable friends, and in the event of a spontanious jam.
The music incorporates delightful quirky elements such as a beatboxing digeridoo, a kazoo choir, 8 part whistling choruses, breath oceans, and a percussive floss solo.
While recording the album she composed all of the orchestration on the fly, in what she called "spontanious orchestration." Letting one line settle in, then immediately layering the next thing that intuitively poured out. Combustive layering - creating a spontanious improvisational feel to the music's ebbs and flows...
Maesyn's favorite pastime is a random jam. She sings, writes, whistles, percusses, plays violin, guitar, and a wee bit of piano. She can be found wandering around the country, playing music and having a jolly good time at it.
She very much loves living. MUSIC IS LIFE. And so it is.
