Crystal Kind CooperativeThe Cooperative hosts Mayan Crystal Kin Meetings every 13 days and equinox and solstice celebrations each season. They also represent and promote natural time at festivals and gatherings.
Crystal Kind originated through these Cooperative gatherings. On May 6 2007, Ras Berhane, Maya Marck, and Seraphim were facilitating a Mayan Crystal Kin Meeting in Asheville. While in reflection of their collective healing energies, they realized the synchronicities of their musical backgrounds and spiritual beliefs. As Ras Berhane explains, "It occurred to us, music is the perfect medium to unify and create awareness. We felt destined to play together and decided to put our message over music."
In August 2007, at the One World International Music Festival, The Crystal Kind Cooperative set up an interactive "Time Is Art" station with readings, meetings, and art. At this event, Crystal Kind debuted their music as a 3 piece band. After their performance, the band met Overtone Drew, who signed on to become their percussionist.
In the past year, The Crystal Kind Cooperative has facilitated Equinox and Solstice Natural Time Celebrations. Events included: an organic vegan feast, reasoning, community drumming, and their cosmic reggae music. Many people attended these gatherings to exchange energy, laughter and love.
"Our purpose is to help activate and transform our community. Crystal Kind sings about current times and beliefs, and offers natural time services (readings and reasonings) at all of our shows. We are here to provide a positive experience for people to enjoy. Crystal Kind always encourages our audience to take this healing vibration into the world and raise the energy of everything they come in contact with. True change does not come from the top down, but from the bottom up" - Maya Marck.
