I have a variety of interests. I am into, and not in any specific order.... My daughters and nurturing their intellect and self esteem, Kimber 1911's, Labrador Retrievers, Pop Culture, Ford Galaxie 500's, Current Events-both domestic and foreign, and highbrow literature that you can bore people out with at cocktail parties. I know I have more interests than this, but I'm going to have to stew on it for a little while. Oh yeah, one of my interests is avoiding disclosure and letting people jam me up.
I have music interests. I'm a real Hot AC guy. For instance, I like Coldplay quite a bit. Even though a friend of mine calls Coldplay a modern ripoff of Air Supply. I also dig Steel Pulse, Matisyahnu, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Deftones, Van Halen, Pink Floyd, The Police, Sublime, Tears For Fears, Berlin (but only the song "Take My Breath Away" from Top Gun), Nirvana, Johnny Cash, Ted Nugent (mostly for his political beliefs, but "Cat Scratch Fever" is a jam), AMG ("Bitch Betta Have My Money" is a seminal 'sex rap' album)...But if you really need to have your reality reset, check out The Flaming Lips.
This is more difficult. There was a time in my life when I watched a lot of movies. But lately when my wife and I go to the movies, I fall asleep in the theater. Sometimes I fart very loud when I'm sleeping, so she gets embarassed. I even do this during films I really want to see.But...I recently bought the entire collection of "Lethal Weapon" films on DVD. Classic action/buddy pic. Mel Gibson at his peak, before he become a theological nightmare. I hear he's making a film about the holocaust. Good luck with that, Mel baby. I also enjoyed Donnie Darko, Mulholland Drive, Tombstone, anything David Lynch, mmmm....Yeah, lots of movies. Walk The Line was good, what I was awake for, anyways... Oh, and most of my values system seems to have been gleaned from equal parts Torah and gangster films like "The Godfather". But anymore, the only value a film has to me is it's first thirty minutes. After that, it's sleepy time.
"Rescue Me" is delicious television. I liked "Nip/Tuck", but I think the show has jumped the shark in small steps lately. I will watch any of the Law & Orders, and I like CSI Las Vegas quite a bit. I will also watch almost any episode of "The Twilight Zone". The Sopranos is good as well.
Reading is the one constant in my life. I will name a few books that I love. "Out of Control" By Thomas Henderson. "The Stories of John Cheever" By John Cheever. "Home Before Dark" By Susan Cheever. "Cat's Cradle" By Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. "Fierce Invalids Home From Hot Climates" By Tom Robbins. "Human, All Too Human" By Frederick Nietzsche. "Jewish Literacy" By Rabbi Joseph Telushkin. "American Gods" By Neil Gaiman. "The Great Santini" By Pat Conroy. "The Great Shark Hunt" By Hunter S. Thompson. "Fates Worse Than Death" By Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. "Catcher In The Rye" By J.D. Salinger. "Fight Club, Choke, and Lullaby" By Chuck Palahniuk. "White Noise" By Don Delillo. RECENT ADD: "Botany of Desire"...great nonfiction and should be required reading.
William Jefferson Clinton (political genius, damn near started a cult of personality in the US...If you thought Ronald Regan's funeral was a big deal, G_d forbid, but just wait until Bill passes away). Johan Santana, because his fastball has wicked pop and his changeup makes the best hitters in baseball look stupid. My wife, she's very intelligent and sexy...and she's made me two wonderful little girls.
