I'm still getting the hang of Myspace and what to put on the page. Below is my 'official' Dj Bio so for now that's what I'll put in the bio area until I can work up something a little more personal.
Growing up in Harlem, NYC, Malik found his calling while working at the world famous Apollo Theater. There he met Naughty by Nature’s Vinnie Brown and discovered a passion for music. At the age of eighteen Malik left the city to pursue college and a DJ career.
Malik quickly carved a niche for himself in the local DJ community by becoming the Operations Manager for 88.5 KURE. From radio, Malik spring boarded into work at Iowa nightclubs including Sips (Ames), Big Shots (Ames), and Crossroads (DSM).
These days Malik has been applying his talents to clubs and working with groups such as Alter Ego Networks. Although Club gigs are a large part of what Malik does, his passion is for mobile entertainment. Malik became well known for his house parties. In total, Malik has done over three hundred Greek letter organization parties. Now the party has come to the Phoenix area. Dj Malik has been featured in performances throughout the west valley and has worked with local hip hop talent such as King David. His Runplaydat mixtape series is quickly gaining noterity as ‘the one to listen to’ for the latest hip-hop tracks. Malik will be bringing that same energy to two new mixtape series. The ‘Rock Show’ mixtape promises to put a mix DJ’s spin on a genre not known for juggling beats. ‘Nightlife’ also returns in 2006 as Malik revisits his New York House Music roots in a bi-monthly expedition of what’s hot in dance music.
