About Me

"rach green is a dyed-in-the-wool rocker girl, and that's all right by us. You can hear her aggressive heart at the center of the four songs on her fabulous new EP, from the terse, lurching, Ani Difranco style opener 'What You Wanted', to the breezy Go Betweens-esque, 'Capacity'. rach is also a talented guitarist. As she sings on the stoic and courageous 'Am Not'; “i'm gonna play my hands down to the bone, i'm gonna stand up and do it on my own” ...which is what rach is indeed destined to do. The woman is strong, single-minded, and hyper-creatively-inclined, the kind of person who is more than ready to embark on a significant career voyage. The only thing she has to do now is book her passage." -bob gulla, exec. editor, women who rock and guitar one magazines, NYC USA In 2004 Rach relocated from her Native Australia to Los Angeles where she is completing guitar studies at Musicians Institute located in Hollywood. Performing around Los Angeles and also in New York at venues including the Sidewalk Café, her style has been enthusiastically received by American audiences. History…. rach green is a multitalented singer/songwriter who performs on guitar, voice, piano, didgeridoo, & percussion. No stranger to the music scene she has been performing and composing since age twelve, she cut her teeth on the live rock scene as singer/songwriter/guitarist & manager, for all-female three piece punk outfit 'tinderbox' (later known as 'poinaz dare'). Often referred to as the female version of silverchair, this grrl rock group supported the likes of Bikini Kill (USA), as well as performing in major capital cities Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne. It was their level of energy and enthusiasm which won runner up prize in national radio Triple J's unearthed competition, and saw them release 3 singles in 1997 – Take No Credit, Melting Barbies and their pop-punk cover of the Men At Work classic; Downunder. rach green’s solo career began in 2000 with a move from her small village Congo, on the South Coast of New South Wales to Sydney, where she quickly began performing at venues including Hopetoun & Annandale Hotels or Metro's Roma Room showcasing her songwriting in a style best described as a hybrid of punk-folk and acoustic rock. Her debut solo EP 'what you wanted' was released thru independent label and AIR member Greedy Bastard Records, Sept 02. Revolver magazine called the title track "an outstanding piece of writing and arrangement" BMA magazine called her voice "Babes In Toylandesque." CD Single "Am Not" released Feb 2003, was picked up by Triple J, with airplay particularly on Rosie Beaton’s Super Request program. The EP continues to receive airplay on independent radio both here and in the US. Further US exposure was gained following the article "Postcard from Downunder" published in NY magazine Women Who Rock. In 2003, tours covered the North and South East Coast of Australia, solo and full band shows proved highly successful particularly over the Easter (blues-fest) weekend in Byron Bay where the single and EP sold out within 3 shows. A January tour is planned for NYC with dates at the Sidewalk Café, C-Note, and Micky’s Blue Room – dates to be confirmed. Her debut album is now in production.
