Anyone and Everyone - young, old, tall, short, nutty, urban, foreign, shy, goofy, hot, cold, political, chubby, mercurial, stoned, athletic, talkative, rocking, bookish, reflective, certifiable, hyper, confused, awake/asleep, natural, crazy-intense, learned, noirish, mellow, with child, wacky, deaf, hazardous, gimpy, multi-layered, artsy, passionate, funky ... and hanging with, say, Stevie Wonder for a day would be crazy.
I've got a very eclectic taste in music. I grew up a "classically trained" pianist, as the phrase goes. (It's a blessing and a curse.) Trying to learn guitar right now. Can't name everything I love, but here's a start ... classic rock, classic R&B, funk, blues, hip hop, Motown, jazz, classical, etc. etc. Particulars - U2, White Stripes, Hendrix, Zeppelin, Floyd, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Johnny Cash, Billy Joel, Prince, Keane, the Stones, Herbie, Biggie, Parliament, RHCP, Van Halen, Aerosmith, Bowie, Ray Charles, Ravi Shankar, Dylan, Tenacious D, Black Crowes, Gershwin, Pavarotti, Beethoven, Mozart, Coltrane, Miles, Monk, Satchmo, Ella, Billie, Frank, Tony B., Harry C., B.B. King ... etc. etc. you get the idea!
Maybe I'll write more when I have time, but for now JC knows what it's all about:
I won't list every movie I like because the list would be long and tiring - and I'm sure I'd forget something. So I'll just say I'm a movie buff, and I love everything from brainless blockbusters to obscure, foreign art flicks. If I haven't seen it yet, I'll most likely try to in the future.
Catch shows when I have the time...I usually don't schedule my day around the TV. But there's a lot of stuff out there that I like - Without a Trace is the best thing on TV right now. Simpsons and Family Guy are classics...American Dad is underrated. My Name is Earl, The Office, 24 are great. Same with Letterman, Conan, and Jimmy Kimmel, who is getting better and better. CSI (the original) is good...the two spin-offs are lame. Let's see...whenever the Patriots or Red Sox are winning championships (or even playing at all) that makes for damn good TV too.Oh yeah, and Reality TV-anything really sucks.
Just finished MARLEY AND ME by John Grogan...terrific, funny and sad read. Also finished Al Franken's book THE TRUTH (with jokes) and the new Michael Connelly mystery THE LINCOLN LAWYER. Both great. Currently reading RAGA MALA, the autobio of Ravi Shankar.
I could go on for a while...John Belushi, Jim Morrison, Stevie Wonder, Dave Letterman, John Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy, Louis Armstrong, Jack Black, Muhammad Ali, Ravi Shankar, Ray Charles, Abraham Lincoln, Dylan Thomas ...
