The group was formed way back in the late-90's when highschool friends Erwin Bautista, Don Montealegre, Elwynn Dayrit and Owee Nicolas decided to put a band that will serve as an outlet for their common love of rock n’ roll music. Calling themselves “BOK†and adding the sexy number “76â€, they decided to call the band BOK76. A name they thought shows the close relationship of the group and the uniqueness of their music.
The sound of BOK76 is centered on emotions of melancholy that portrays life's (relationships and friendships in particular) frustrations, attacked positively with an upbeat tempo, accompanied by a heavy riff that is very pinoy rock.
On August 2007, the band released an independent album they called REVELATIONS. It was an eleven-song recording signifying the rebirth of the band (taking into consideration the entry of drummer Jay Castelo). The songs in it contained the common themes of the band's music: guitar-driven songs of love, hate, angst, frustration, friendship and good old classic rock n’ roll.
On September 2007, the video of the band’s first single “Traydor†premiered on Myx Music Channel. The song is also played in various radio stations across the country. Another song of the band “Barkada†was chosen as a grand finalist in the 2007 Halo-halo Song Writing competition. The song is also included in the event’s album release.
The band currently plays their original songs together with some covers (which include songs from the Juan dela Cruz band and the Beatles, who has been a constant influence) in bars, primarily at Club Dredd (Gweilos) in Eastwood, Libis where they hold a regular schedule. Also included in the list of bars are Purple Haze in Tomas Morato, Vide de Malate, Center for the Arts in Timog and Room Upstairs in Makati.
