Lisa Nicole has performed before the President and First Lady of the United States of America, has sung a tribute to the Commissioner of the NFL at a Superbowl XXXV event, and has performed in a Pre-Show for the Kelly Clarkson/Clay Aiken Independence Tour, yet she has never lost sight of the beauty of music. No matter where she performs, this young woman knows how to connect with her audience. Whether it is a crowd of 1,000’s with international media or a small intimate group, Lisa Nicole’s charismatic performances makes every person feel as if they are the only one in the room.
This young lady’s natural talent and comfort with her audience was visible at an early age. Just moments after performing the National Anthem for a crowd of 800+ at Clearwater Beach’s Sheraton Sand Key Resort, 9-year-old Lisa was asked to sing “God Bless Americaâ€. Though unprepared and unrehearsed, she happily agreed. Following her impromptu performance, recording artist Sonny Bono congratulated her on her ability and encouraged her to continue her dream to become a recording artist and she has heeded his advice.
Since her twelfth birthday, Lisa has been in the recording studio. In 1999, she recorded her first song, “The American Dream Lives On†then traveled the state of Florida to promote it. Her stops included a performance in the courtyard of the State Capitol and before a crowd of 3000 people at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. In 2001, she recorded “My America†which was released on Acclaim Records. At only 14, Lisa sang this intense song to a contingent of New York City Firefighters and four of the families whose loved ones perished at the World Trade Center. As Lisa sang the powerful melody and lyrics, her voice quivered with emotion and tears dotted her face, but she finished the song with a resounding note with all the power and fortitude that these great Americans were worthy of.
In late 2002, Raul Murciano (formerly of Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine) wrote “It’s All About Heart†and “I Choose You†especially for Lisa. She recorded both songs in Miami’s Multivision Studio and saw “It’s All About Heart†zoom to #1 on MP3’s Adult Contemporary Chart in June of 2003. After a brief meeting at the Entertainment Alliance in Miami, Multi-Grammy winning songwriter, Christian Leuzzi invited Lisa to record, “Through Your Eyesâ€, a song he co-wrote with Denise Rich. Mr. Leuzzi is best known for his work with Gladys Knight and David Bisbal, Latin Grammy’s New Artist of the Year 2003, and American Idol’s Bo Bice.
Not only has Lisa heeded the advice of Sonny Bono, she has also taken the advice of another music industry icon – Multi-Grammy winning producer Tom Dowd. At a 2000 NARAS event, Lisa had the unique opportunity to spend over half an hour talking with this legendary producer. During their private discussion, Mr. Dowd emphatically told Lisa to begin writing music. Lisa has taken the advice of the master, and in 2004, she co-wrote her first two songs “This Moment†and “Still Love You.†Since then, Lisa has written six more songs, including “Listen to My Wordsâ€, and “My Promise†that she has recorded, and four she wrote for artists of different genres.
In addition to her musical and live performance abilities, Lisa is a natural in front of the camera. She is currently featured on Maybelline New York’s website as their 2005 “Chick with Attitude†and was a principle in the national Baby Bumble Bee educational video series. Lisa has also appeared as a principle in a segment for the weekly prime time Japanese television show “Astonishing! News†broadcast on Nippon Television, an NBC affiliate.
Despite her early success, Lisa’s has not lost sight of her dedication to serve others. She consistently donates her time to perform for charitable causes such as the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life events, fundraisers for St. Jude’s Children Hospital, and Hurricane Relief benefits. At 13, Lisa was one of the founding members of “Teens for Charitable Causes Inc†–a group of teens 12-15 years old who raised over $11,000 for charities such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Prevention for the Cruelty to Animals, plus many others. The group raised money by writing, producing, performing, and promoting original musical comedies. During her time with the group, Lisa served as script writer, performer, director and producer as well as being the group’s first treasurer.
At 18-years-old Lisa graduated with honors in July 2005 from St. Petersburg College with her AA degree and she is continuing to pursue her Bachelor’s of Music Degree in Music Composition at the University of South Florida. When Lisa is not performing, recording or acting, she is busy writing music. Recently Lisa completed a techno project with producer, Stephen Singer, and is currently working on writing some new tunes with co-writer, Robert Coates. In her spare time, Lisa enjoys running, reading, watching movies and her very favorite pastime, watching reruns of “I Love Lucyâ€.Music: Lisa Nicole's music touches the heart.
