About Me

Mike Burns is a very experienced and accomplished guitar player from the Toronto area. Having started his full time guitar-man career in 1977, Traditional Country Music took him on the road all over Canada in various touring bands for the next bunch of years. Including countless Cross Canada Tours with the incomparable 'Joe Firth & The Promise Land' Band. A 10 year hiatus from the honky tonk lifestyle began in 1984, but in 1994 Mike returned to the stage and scene in full force, but this time 100% sober! Having joined the newly formed "Gladstonians" with some old friends brought new life and new sounds from Mike. A newly acquired mid-60's Super Reverb became and still is the backbone of the dynamite tone he's known for, and soon Mike became active in the Blues community playing with some great Toronto based acts and creating a buzz for himself. Post Gladstonian years brought lots more action in the Blues and Country (Traditional and now New) worlds. A few year stint with D.W James thrust Mike into the world of compressors, souped up telecasters and modulation filled songs. The delight of the "new country" sound. Following his work with D.W Mike worked extensively with Wade Mosher in the studio and live, even recording the songs you hear here together. A surprise phone call from an old Gladstonian friend brought Mike into the wonderful and occasionally bizarre world of Tribute Artists. Soon Mike was backing up world class performers playing Elivs, Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly, Motown Legends, Country Legends and even modern Pop artists like Gwen Stefani/No Doubt, along with rotating spots in the mainstay of CCR Tributes "the Bayou Boys" with fellow strat wheeling, vintage amp cranking guitar man Mike McDonald. But a boyhood love for Johnny Cash would provide Mike with his favourite gig yet. His "dream gig", to play with Johnny Cash. In 2005 Mike became a ground floor member of the now highly acclaimed "Man In Black" show featuring Shawn Barker as Johnny Cash. Telecaster - Chord - Amp, and authentic Luther Perkins playing... what more can you ask for!I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)
