HUZZAH!!!

About Me

The Renaissance of the 14th and 15th Centuries ushered in new ways of thinking and living for the people of the Dark Ages. Renaissance means "rebirth". Art, Architecture, Literature, Science, Technology and the Economy drastically changed throughout all of Europe and Great Britain. When we think of the Renaissance, the name DaVinci comes to mind. We imagine armord Knights upon their war horses; stately Kings and Queens with their glamorous courts; castles with tall towers; inventions such as the printing press and ships sailing the seas, bringing things never before seen or tasted. This was truly the time of awakening.
The Highland Renaissance Festival is a splendid throw back to 14th and 15th century Scotland. Full of an assortment of handcrafted items and a folly of other artisans and vendors. Come to the Shire, where you'll see historical re-enactments by a volunteer cast that make the experience extremely enjoyable. Come see a real live Mud show and full contact Jousting along with lovely bellydancers, spectaular science experiments and an amazing freak show. There are craft demostrations and an assortment of games for all ages, as well as a petting zoo for exciting family fun. Enjoy period music with a list of very talented musicians coming from far and wide. The hospitality of the shire is very welcoming as you stroll through the various shops and join the cast at the pub for drink and merriment.
The 2008 season begins the weekend of May 31st and June 1st and runs for 8 weekends closing the weekend of July 19th and 20th
