Now residing at the end of the earth

About Me

Somehow, I've ended up living half of my life in the far away country of New Zealand. It's a great place, but so small, & better as a holiday destination. I was born and bred in Brisbane, Australia & moved to NZ to finish up high school. I've since finished with uni, taken on some odd retail jobs & yet still seem to be here, living out my days as a games writer/reviewer and more recently, government employee. I'd love nothing more than to move to the States for the rest of my life so I can get rid of this mess of an Australian/Kiwi/English accent. One day I'll make a sign to carry around - "Lovable and friendly mongrel breed wanting a caring American home. Will you be my new family?"

My Interests

I like gaming, which is fortunate because it's what I do at the moment. I love going to the movies - any movie really, and I can't wait for the V Movie Marathon to come around again. 24hrs of movies! I'm a compulsive baker, so I often end up baking things at strange hours and then keeping my flatmates up late demanding they stay up so they can try what I've made. I'm crazy about Calvin and Hobbes. I have a weakness for fairy lights, palm trees, American accents, warm weather and storms.

I'd like to meet:

Gina Gershon, Carly Pope, Jordana Brewster, Ella Hooper, Rachel McAdams, Anna Faris and countless other interesting sounding people. I mean, I'd probably buy Mandy Moore a milkshake if I ever got to meet her.

Music:

The strangest mix of genres ever. Killing Heidi, Counting Crows, Garbage, Kelly Clarkson, 30 Seconds to Mars, Brooke Fraser, Pendulum, Dieselboy, Lacuna Coil, Stylus 77. My favorite soundtrack is from Silent Hill 4: The Room.

Movies:

House of Yes, The Saint, Showgirls, The Notebook, American History X, DEBS, Tomb Raider, Serenity, The Princess Bride, Bring it On, Lost and Delirious, Sister Act, Temple of Doom

Television:

Arrested Development, Buffy, Firefly, Gilmore Girls, South of Nowhere, Futurama, Dirt

Books:

Mostly crime and mysteries, but some of my favs are fantasy based. I love books by Isobelle Allende, Sarah Dreher, Lauren Maddison, Isobelle Carmody, Rachel Caine.

Heroes:

Sue & Sue, for just being themselves no matter what, and my sister, for supporting me unconditionally (no matter how many times I fell off her roof drunk)
