Chuck Zeuren attended and graduated from Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA. where he met and played with such jazz luminaries as John Scofield, Joe Lovano, Gary Burton etc. Soon after graduation, he moved to New York City and while continuing his playing and gigging relationships with Scofield and Lovano, he got involved in the New York Jazz Loft Scene. Here Chuck met and played with Mike Brecker, Randy Brecker, Dave Liebman, Bob Mintzer, Jerry Bergonzi, Tom Harrell, Pepper Adams, Cecil Payne and many others. He joined the band led by Paul Jeffreys, Theolonious Monk’s protégé and tenor player. This lead to an orientation throughout many of New York City’s most famous jazz clubs. He then, in the late 70’s, joined the Lionel Hampton Orchestra for what became a 2-year stint. Coming off the road with Hampton, Chuck worked with the late, great Chet Baker’s quartet, again throughout some of New York’s most famous jazz clubs.Zeuren attended The City University of New York (Graduate program in Jazz Composition) during the late 80’s at which time he met and performed with more of the Jazz world’s most prodigious members...Jimmy Heath, Freddie Hubbard, Ron Carter etc..For the past 20 years Chuck has performed on numerous jingles, Broadway shows, CD’s and albums as a sideman and in the early 90’s recorded his first CD as a leader. Entitled “Zeurenâ€, the CD was released in 1997 on the Monad Jazz label and met with instant acclaim. It remained on the national jazz charts (Gavin Charts) for many weeks and eventually reached the top 25, nationwide. “Zeuren†was featured on Puerto Rico’s largest jazz radio station, that of the University of El San Juan, as part of the celebration of Puerto Rico’s “National Month of Percussionâ€. The CD entitled “Zeuren†has been chosen as “Star CD of the Month†in an issue of “Le Jazz Magazineâ€â€¦and an issue of “Jazz Player Magazine†featured a 4 page article on Chuck Zeuren, highlighting many aspects of his career.Along with touring throughout Europe and the U.S. and recording with his own band, he continues to work as a sideman with some of the world’s most renown jazz musicians...Chuck Zeuren recently performed on a CD by world renown jazz drummer/vocalist Grady Tate and performed on and wrote string arrangements for a CD due out soon which features the late, great jazz legend, Etta Jones. Zeuren’s own latest project, one entitled “Why Not??†includes a quintet session for which he composed nine tunes. This session has been released on the Italian Jazz label RED RECORDS, to numerous rave reviews.****************************************************
