About Me

Life is really good!

I have an amazing eleven year old son in the sixth grade. Collin is smart, handsome, polite, fun, confident, busy, and sweet! I love to hang out with him and I am amazed at the young man he is growing up to be. He is into hanging out with his buddies, playing computer & video games, reading, swimming, taking guitar lessons, and studying for his green senior belt in kenpo karate (of which he trains at the dojo two to three nights a week!)

We have a really great home. I am currently working on redecorating every square inch (now I am on the ‘wallpaper removal’ stage!) Collin, Sadie (our dog), Phantom (our cat) and I have lived here for a little over a year. We recently had a landscaping party here (see my blog) and really spruced up the outside!

Positive thinking is a way of life for me. I am trying to surround myself with people who have similar positive thoughts and like to have fun! I enjoy intellectual stimulation, and I continuously thirst for new information. I am passionate about human rights issues, and animal rights. I love to keep up with our political system, because it makes me feel socially responsible. I believe in living life to the fullest, and making the most of every situation.

Thank you for taking the time to read about me, I look forward to hearing from you!

My Interests

I have fun cooking and baking. I like to use new recipes from Rachael Ray, and old ones passed down from my Grandma Grace. I feel most relaxed in the kitchen surrounded by the sounds and smells and all the colorful ingredients.

Board games like monopoly, clue and scrabble, and card games like rummy and euchre make my heart smile. It's hard to find someone who likes to play those games with me but when I do, I am putty in their hands!

I love planting things and tending to what I'm growing. One day, I will have a little greenhouse in my back yard! I will have a side for flowers and plants and a side for fruits and vegetables. ;-)

Playing the piano makes my heart sing. I lose myself as soon as my fingers strike the keys. Thanks to my parents persistence during my childhood, I am fairly good at the classics. I will have my very own baby grand soon!

I am an eternal student of art history. I would much rather study art than any other thing! When watching movies, if I see an art piece I cannot identify, I'll search through my references until I can!

I'd like to meet:

Anyone with a positive outlook, if you can make me laugh; bonus!

"Do not neglect this body. This is the house of God; take care of it, only in this body can God be realized." - Nisardadatta Maharaj

Music:

I listen to every style of music on the radio, on CDs, and on my Ipod.

I like to sing along when I even think I know the words!

When working out, I prefer rocking out to heavy metal.

When I'm reading or relaxing, I dig the eighties!

In the car, I mostly smack a hip hop cd in to bounce down the road with!

I have different preferences for different moods, as I'm sure many people do.

On the piano, I mostly play my classical favorites.

Movies:

My favorite movie is Stephen King's original The Shining. I also love Napoleon Dynamite for the mindless humor, The Island for the awesome escape, and Mr. and Mrs. Smith for SO many reasons!

Television:

I really enjoy shows that make me laugh. House is one of those shows, as well as Boston Legal, Flipping Out, Shear Genius, Scrubs, Back To You, How I Met Your Mother, Two and a Half Men, and of course, Ellen!

I also like Desperate Housewives, The Real Housewives of Orange County, The Real Housewives of NYC, and The Young and The Restless.

Books:

I just finished Rhonda Byrne's 'The Secret' and it is as amazing as I had heard it was. I recently read Wayne Dyer's newest book, 'Being in Balance' and it is equally great as well! I highly recommend both inspiring books to everyone!

Heroes:

Grandma Grace for teaching me how to cook and be a strong woman.

Mrs. Wendene S. for being the greatest piano player, and instructor I have ever had the honor of knowing.

Rita and Henry C for raising a terrific family I was honored to be a part of.

My dad, stepmom, mom, and stepdad for always being there for me through both the good and bad times.

My four sisters and two brothers for keeping my life full of love and laughter.

My son for reminding me to look at things a little less seriously . . . he is truly my inspiration.

My dog, Sadie

She is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. She is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. She has told me a thousand times over that I ...

Finally!

I cannot find the right word to describe how I'm feeling right now. . . so I'll use a few; excited, relieved, nervous, hopeful, and determined. I finally got the go-ahead this evening from my doc...

Tim Russert

I have always had a crush on George Stephanopoulos.  I know George has his own show, but I can remember him being on Tim's show, Meet The Press, on more than one occasion.  I know I did not ...

The flowers and plants are in!

The landscaping bash was a rousing success!  Fourteen humans and three canines, braved temperatures in the nineties for a few hours on Sunday afternoon to weed, dig, plant, and mul...

Burning Down The House

OK, so I have told some of you this story, but I think it bears repeating since it totally got my panties in a bunch and is worth a little humor (as far as sarcastic humor can take you!) So, the other...

No bending, twisting, or lifting . . . six more weeks!

How was I to know the x-ray would show I've been bending, twisting, and lifting (just dishes out of the dishwasher and laundry out of the dryer . . . nothing too heavy!)???? Evidently, my doc was able...
