Nacho Olivar

My name is Ignacio (Nacho) de Olivar Romeo, I’m 25 and I was born in Ciutadella de Menorca, Balear Islands, Spain. I began to play the guitar when I was 13, studying in a little music school of Menorca and playing and jamming with my friends. We had a couple of cover bands. I moved to Barcelona in 2002 to study music professionaly in “L’Aula de Jazz i Música Moderna del Liceu” and I graduated in Modern Music in the speciality of guitar in June of 2007. I was the guitar player of the fusion rock band called “Alpha Artic” from 2000 till 2005. With Alpha Artic we were one of the finalists in the Pop-Rock musical contest called “Art Jove 2001” and we ended 13th (between 160 contestants) of the musical contest called “Emergenza”, playing in the most important clubs of Barcelona, Spain. With Alpha Artic we made and record the Original Soundtrack of the documentary “Tras el futbolín” (Tratart produccions). I played in the European Final of Acustic Guitar in 2006 (Emergenza Acustic) too. With Laura Vall and Bersio Enrich we had an acustic covers band called “Devagar” where we played songs of all kind of styles, from jazz, flamenco and bossa nova to rock, pop and soul. In 2006, with Laura Vall, Bersio Enrich, Joan Taltavull and Carme Taltavull, made a live music and contemporany dance show called "180 Graus". It was performed in the "Festival de Musica d'Estiu de Joventuts Musicals de Ciutadella" (Summer Music Festival of Musical Youth of Ciutadella, Menorca, Balearic Islands) in july 2006. We are happy to be it's authors, directors, producers and performers. In addition to this, Laura, Bersio and I composed the music while Joan and Carme coreographed the dancing passages. I will be graduated in September of 2008. With Laura Vall, Josh Cohn, Hayan Cheng, Sang-Do Han we created a funk/soul/jazz band called "Off the Island".
