About Me

I've had an interesting life ... raised in Southern California ... played Little League, was a Boy Scout ... went to church on Sundays ... learned how to swim in a friends pool down the street ... learned about the ocean in Huntington Beach ... made my own skateboard out of wood and metal rollerskates ... took vacations with my mom and dad, brother and two sisters ... and was basically an All-American kid. ......... Then came the 60's, rock and roll, the Viet Nam War ...and the 70's with drugs, sex and tons of partyin mixed in with college. Still basically an All-American kid. (smile) ......... The 80's were more of the same ... except on a larger scale ... then came the 90's, a beautiful daughter,Jana, finding God, and meeting the love of my life, ... Pam.......... The new millenium was all about struggle and learning how to be a good husband and eventually a good father. ......... Hopefully I'm still on that path ... ......... I'm happy with the past now, and I love who I am and who I love ... so life is sweet ... and I smile almost all of every day and thank God for the family and friends I've had in my life. - Mike Muckenthaler

My Interests

Politics, Religion, Science, History, Music, Sports, and most of all, my family and friends ............. I'm born and raised So-Cal ... so I'm all over the place as far as 'INTERESTS' go ....... Hendrix said it best, "I wanna hear or see EVERYTHING" .............................................When I was in college in the early 70's, it was all about ending the Viet Nam War ... and the whole Peace Movement and the music and lifestyles that that era brought about. We are baby-boomers, AND the Woodstock Generation. ..........In the mid 70's it mellowed out with the war ending ... music and partying were an everyday thing ... with all the negative and positive things that goes along with that. New-Wave, Heavy Metal, Punk Rock and even Disco were all born during those times ... and we were all over the place as far as what we wanted out of life. ..........

The 80's were more of the same ... until I had a beautiful daughter, Jana Nicole ....Through the grace of God, I survived a near death experience and eventually found God, and myself. ..........The 90's brought me the love of my life, Pam ... who I've been madly in love with ever since.

It was in the 90's I started getting involved in youth sports and the whole 'extreme' sports world. I eventually got involved in Roller Hockey in Huntington Beach at the Boys and Girls Club ... I went on to become Director of the Youth Leagues at Side by Side, rinks in Huntington Beach and from there, the 1994-95 California Street Hockey Association (C.S.H.A.)High School Leagues in Garden Grove. The 1995 CSHA High School Championships (in California) were held at The Pond in Anaheim, just before a R.H.I. Bullfrog's game. Eventually I became active in the International Roller Hockey Association's (I.R.H.A.) youth programs and took over as Director of their High School division and organized a second High School Championship at 'the Pond' with that organization. ..........

That job led to my involvement in Aggressive Inline Skating, with a new job working for Select Distribution with Psycho Roller Hockey and Hangers Aggressive Inline Clothing Companies. I went on to become Facilities Manager at Select and was team manager for Vision Street Wear, Vision Skateboards, Vision and Shuvit Snowboards, Smith Safety Gear, Shuvit Skateboards, 151 Skateboards and a few other companies in the Select family. ..........Working with Select got me involved in the X-Games, Aggressive Skaters Association (A.S.A.), California Amateur Skateboard League (C.A.S.L.) and dozens of skateparks and skateboard associations and promoters around the country, includinmg the Warped Tour, Skatopia, Skate Park of Tampa and the Damn Am competitions. ..........I still love to watch BMX, skate, snowboard and inline skating competitions ... and always will. ..........I also have a huge interest in football, (I'm a 'jock' at heart I guess) and follow the USC (Trojans) and the two Virginia Universities ... UVA and Virginia Tech. (College football seems so much 'purer' than pro ... and way more inspirational.) ..........I also have become really interested in American history, especially the East coast ... Now that I'm living in Virginia, I've gotten into the early history, philosophy and politics of what created our country ... and take small trips with Pam, to learn more, on a monthly basis. ..........Along with that, I've been renovating our 'farmhouse-cottage' ... putting my construction know-how to good use, trying to bring back an historic house to it's 1880's original 'look'. ... It's been tons of fun. ..........I also, do oil paintings as a hobby and recently won a Blue Ribbon at the Orange County (VA) fair for one of my paintings ... (I'm actually pretty good at it. lol)..........I guess that says it all ... except for my greatest 'interests' of all ... my wife, daughter, step-son and family God's been good to me. (Amen!)
