Long distance running and politics. Our generation was supposed to change the world. Up until the Iowa caucus I'd thought we'd failed miserably. Now, for the first time since 1970, I have hope for America. That's we've grown up and finally can live the dream that all men [and women] are created equal. Also love music, history, art and cats.
I'd like to meet:
Obama and Hillary. Obama because he's an honest politician (an oxymoron one would think) and he inspires young people the way John F. Kennedy did. Hillary because she a woman who's so close to being president it's exHillary-ating (ah - can't resist a pun, no matter how good or bad.) You see - I was told growing up that I could be anything I wanted to be, and, of course, I wanted to be the 1st woman president. Then reality hit me over the head and I found out it was all a big lie - until now. So - Go Hillary! Although I do like Obama better. And, it's cool America is finally coming around to where race and sex don't matter. Yeah - there is hope for us after all!
Music:
Rock, blues, country, folk, alternative - anything with interesting lyrics with a story to tell or a message. I like pretty much all genre's, as long as the lyrics are interesting and intelligent, playful, intricate.
Movies:
Lord of the Rings - all of them.
Television:
Law & Order, NCIS, Monk - is there a thread there?
Books:
The Lord of the Rings shaped who I am. I love mysteries and histories.
Heroes:
My husband who is strong enough to be my man. And gentle, and kind and funny and smart. Thank you, Michael.
My father who taught me to value knowledge, to think critically and to always question authority.
My Grandmother Irene, who gave me someone to aspire to be like. Alison Krauss has a song called "Simple Love" - this is so much like my grandmother.
