About Me

I'm an interactive designer for an advertising agency in Baltimore and a longtime painter, photographer and general appreciator of life. When not striving to be creative, I enjoy science-related stuff, technology, politics, traveling, nature and like observing and learning about the inter-relation of things around us.

My Interests

Graphic design, photography, painting, using my hands, stained glass, anything art-related really. Good music, breakbeats, soul, funk, electronic, indie rock. Grilling on my deck, anything spicy, having a drink with friends, having a drink with strangers. Film festivals, documentaries, ResFest, Macintosh computers. Plan B, camping, traveling, ordinary things, enjoying the moment, things that I don't understand, having conversations with really smart people, learning, astronomy, nature.

I'd like to meet:

Music and Art lovers, graphic design heads, intellectual types, free-thinkers, anyone that's passionate about something, time travelers, left-handed people.

Music:

Amon Tobin, Beck, Big in Japan, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Cut Chemist, DJ Shadow, Doves, Four Tet, Iron & Wine, Lake Trout, Medeski Martin & Wood, Morphine, My Morning Jacket, NinjaTune Records, Portishead, Postal Service, Radiohead, RJD2, Sunny Day Real Estate, Talking Heads, Thievery Corporation, UNKLE, so much more...

Movies:

City of God, Lost in Translation, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Big Lebowski, Rushmore, Baraka, Dark Days, Waking Life, any music video by Michele Gondry or Spike Jones, anything from the ResFest.

Television:

Anything in HD, Lost, HBO, Discovery Channel, news, Family Guy, Futurama, Adult Swim, anything about science or nature.

Books:

I'm a huge design magazine fan, so I'm usually perusing something like Communication Arts or Print. I did however just finish a book called "last night a dj saved my life" by Bill Brewster and Frank Broughten about the history of DJ music and culture. Good stuff. The last great book that I read was "The Sirens of Titan" by Kurt Vonnegut.

Heroes:

Charles & Ray Eames, Stephen Hawking, Michel Gondry, Abe Lincoln.

Bonnaroo

When preparing for a 700 mile road trip with 8 guys on two RV's, one must first wonder how such a feat is possible. Guys, when was the last time that your buddies actually managed to pull off a trip t...

Highs and lows

I got some free tickets to the HFStival the other day at work. Apparently we do some radio placement, so WHFS had some tickets for us. Just lawn seats, but I wanted to see Matisyahu and Kanye West. Li...

DC PBJ

DC was perfect yesterday, the weather was great, Melissa's friends are all pretty cool, and it truly is relaxing to just sit back in the sun and laugh and chow down on PBJ. I also go to hear some Bloo...

snake, snake fighting

Usually my dreams are lighthearted and fun in nature. Floating around in space, traveling to exotic locations, like space, or even meeting strange people, like Tony Danza. Last nights dream was very s...

space travel dream

In my dream, I wake up in my room. I have a window above my bed, and as I look outside, there is the most uncanny night sky outside. There are millions of stars, much more than I've ever seen in my wh...

Bacchus, Roman god of wine and intoxication

I really made my way around this weekend. Friday I went out with Sara and her nursing crew to a toga party. I like the idea of being friends with a whole crew... If ever I didn't need to worry about p...

Simplicity

I'm always surprised at how a little bit of peace & quiet can wash out a week filled with stress. This morning I was just sitting out on my deck, listening to my neighbor's waterfall trickle into his ...

see, work CAN be fun

We are cleaning out the back of the warehouse, which is dirty and nasty, for our photoshoot tomorrow, but I always try to have a little bit of fun in the process. I needed to do some lighting tests an...

Mousetrap

I'm watching the Sopranos last night when I hear a little rustling in the kitchen, and since I don't have a roommate, I was curious to see what was going on. So I creep in, flip on the lights, and lo ...
