I am here for Friends

About Me

Native of New York City, straight outta 175th Street and Broadway in northern Manhattan's predominantly Dominican neighborhood of Washington Heights. I've lived in Miami for years, but I never stopped feeling a very strong connection to my NY roots. I miss my great days in the old neighborhood, and visit regularly. I feel fortunate to have come from WH, and it'll always be a part of me and who I am. I gotta admit, Miami has been good to us, too.
Music has been a major part of my life since early childhood, starting off with The Beatles, discovering and becoming consumed by KISS, and onto cementing my love for heavy metal in the early 1980s with bands such as Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. I've played guitar since my early teens, inspired by the likes of Ace Frehley, Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, Adrian Smith, Dave Murray, Glenn Tipton, K.K. Downing, Jake E. Lee, Wolf Hoffmann, and Dave Mustaine. When I'm not listening to music, I can find myself playing, composing, and recording it. Inspiration comes and goes, but always in extremes. There were times when I thought I was "done" with playing, but I've realized that after playing guitar for most of my life, it's a part of me I'll never be able to give up.
Drug-free, non-smoker, and only an occasional social drinker.

My Interests

Music (especially METAL and hard rock), guitar, composing and recording music, concerts, working out, NYC, movies, reading, Wikipedia.com.

I'd like to meet:

In a perfect world: John Lennon and Randy Rhoads. In this world: old classmates whom I haven't seen in forever, as well as any cool, down to earth people out there who share any of my interests. Not to mention Rob Halford and Ian Gillan:

Music:

Various kinds, but metal and hard rock have ALWAYS been #1 in the soundtrack to my life! My ALL-TIME favorite heavy metal bands are IRON MAIDEN and JUDAS PRIEST, and as far as hard rock goes, it's KISS, LED ZEPPELIN, AC/DC, VAN HALEN (Roth era), RUSH, and DEEP PURPLE that reign supreme. Other bands I love: Black Sabbath, Dio, old Ozzy, old Metallica, Megadeth, Testament, Accept, Scorpions, UFO, Raven, Exciter, Fates Warning, Armored Saint, Ratt, old Motley Crue, Saxon, Death, Spiritual Beggars, Queen, old Aerosmith, Thin Lizzy, Twisted Sister, Riot, Nocturnal Rites, Twisted Tower Dire, Overkill, King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Slayer, and many more...
Other music: The Beatles, John Lennon, Santana, Cream, Rare Earth, Heart, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Al DiMeola, older pop music, jazz, some old rap, blues.

"The man that hath no music in himself, Nor is not mov'd with concord of sweet sounds, Is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils; The motions of his spirit are dull as night, And his affections dark as Erebus: Let no such man be trusted."
- William Shakespeare, The Merchant of Venice

"Without music, life would be a mistake."
- Friedrich Nietzsche

Movies:

Taxi Driver (ALL-TIME fave), Goodfellas, The Godfather (all), A Bronx Tale, This Is Spinal Tap, Fast Times At Ridgemont High, Spirit of '76, Old School, Blue Streak, First Blood, Night at the Roxbury, Dumb and Dumber, Blood In Blood Out (Bound By Honor), Ocean's Eleven, Trading Places, Austin Powers, Nothing To Lose.

Television:

Law and Order (all, especially "SVU"), Seinfeld, Que Pasa USA?, Gene Simmons Family Jewels, Criss Angel Mindfreak, Dog The Bounty Hunter, The Dead Zone, Monk, That '70s Show, Spin City, and most classic sitcoms.

Books:

No favorite titles in particular, though I mainly enjoy non-fiction works pertaining to social issues and politics. I also like biographies, mostly those related to rock 'n roll. Fiction works I most enjoy are suspense/psychological thrillers with the occasional murder mystery. Not much time for reading these days!
