I am also a Huge BADLANDS fan! Jake E. Lee's band after Ozzy.
Sad that Ray Gillen died - one of the best Rock Vocalists in my opinion from the 80's - early 90's and a homeboy from Long Island. Big influence on my singing style.
More CLASSIC Rock Bands - Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Bad Company, Rainbow, Deep Purple, RUSH, The Doors, Beatles, Stones etc..
Guitarist - Jimmy Page, Steve Vai, Eddie Van Halen, Jake E. Lee, John Petrucci, Dave Murray and Adrian Smith
Vocals - Ray Gillen, Robert Plant, Bruce Dickinson, Chris Cornell,Miljenko Matijevic,Magnus from the Quill! Paul Rodgers...and that guy from Shinedown is clearly the best new rock vocalist around!
Other non hard rock - Steely Dan, Billy Joel, Peter Frampton - listen to the guitar work on "Frampton Comes Alive", Sade (yes Sade..!)
More Modern 90s till Today bands - Shinedown, Audioslave, Wolfmother, The Quill, Disturbed, STP, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, LIVE, Seal, Kelly Clarkson (yes I think she is f'n great)
...and finally one of the best rock vocals on record has got to be Chris Cornell on the Temple of the Dog CD...Chris is clearly the best rock vocalist on the planet.
Another notable is Ray Gillen on all Badlands records..also Mike Matijevic of Steelheart on the Rockstar Soundtrack, Jeff Scott Soto on Yngwie Malmsteen's 1st record, Old Journey with Steve Perry
Best Soundtrack? - Singles - amazing record..Pearl Jam, AIC, Mother Love Bone...listen to "Chloe Dancer"
Props to the "Rockstar" Soundtrack...We all Die Young!
Favorite Lyrics to a song...RUSH - "Something For Nothing" from 2112 says it all and these are words to live by:
Something For Nothing
Waiting for the winds of change
To sweep the clouds away
Waiting for the rainbow's end
To cast its gold your way
Countless ways
You pass the days
Waiting for someone to call
And turn your world around
Looking for an answer to
The question you have found
Looking for
An open door
You don't get something for nothing
You don't get freedom for free
You won't get wise
With the sleep still in your eyes
No matter what your dreams might be
What you own is your own kingdom
What you do is your own glory
What you love is your own power
What you live is your own story
In your head is the answer
Let it guide you along
Let your heart be the anchor
And the beat of your own song
