Paris. The Gardens of Versailles. Las Vegas. Amazing sushi. Art and art history. Things that make you want to touch them. Architecture. Ghosts. Candy.
...and make dinner for: Van Gogh. Steve Martin. Richard Branson. Dorothy Parker. Nicola Tesla.
The Beatles, Bach, and Beethoven. Peter Gabriel. 60s and 70s stuff that my parents would never listen to. And then there's the other stuff my parents listened to all the time (Hi Frank! Hi Tony!) Led Zeppelin. Ooh, Kraftwerk and Philip Glass! Love opera; not so much a fan of country. But true to my Canadian roots, I'm a big fan of Tragically Hip and Joni.
Most Tarantino. Older Woody Allen. Todd Solondz. Asian horror. Lots of horror, but more ghosty than slashy (eg. The Innocents, The Others, Sixth Sense, etc.). Lawrence of Arabia is probably my favourite film of all time. And I loved L.A. Story (remember when Steve Martin was funny?) Das Boot. Love foreign films. And Napoleon Dynamite. South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut. Love those classic films of the 30s and 40s - you know the ones. Big sucker for It's a Wonderful Life.
I miss the Sopranos. I'm addicted to The Office. I never miss Coronation Street if I can help it. I love all those dumb home makeover shows. Miami Ink (although I have zero tattoos and don't imagine I'll ever have one of my own either). Good Eats, Iron Chef, Hell's Kitchen (big crush on Gordon Ramsey). The Daily Show. The Simpsons (of course). South Park. Most Haunted. Love/hate relationship with that Big Brother show which I've watched for far too many years now. Oh, and Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations is terrific.
Oh my, so, so many! I love books. But for this section, I'm going to say Jim Ruland's "Big Lonesome", Roy Kesey's "Nothing in the World", Elizabeth Ellen's "Before You She was a Pitbull", Justine Musk's "Bloodangel" - because they're all very cool books written by very cool (and very kind) people.
A lot of my friends are my heroes. Especially the ones who get out there in the community and try to do some good in the world without ever asking for anything else in return. You know who you are.
