Truth Be Told just might be the best kept secret of the Baltimore music scene. A fairly new band, they exert honesty between the members and music—hence the name Truth Be Told. They pride themselves on placing little emphasis on persona: their individuality creates an accidental image that works for them. In lieu of worrying about an appearance, the band focuses on the depth of content and complexity in their songs. Their music is anything but prescribed—each member has an eclectic taste in music that transposes onto his own compositions. The band seeks to produce positively charged, uncontrived, soul filled, honest music. And they do. The music can be described as melodic hard rock with heavy metal undertones.Truth Be Told was started by Steve Sladki (drums) and Jeff Klein (guitar) in 2006 when the two met and decided to jam. Andrew Freeman (bass) and David Nenner (vocals) were added to the band not long after. Each member calls himself a student of music and brings different elements to the band: one brings experience, one brings passion, another brings youthful energy, and the last brings vision.Their first release has the working title of Artificial Hero. Produced by Drew Mazurek (Linkin Park, H.I.M., Head Automatica, Nothingface), mastered by Alan Douches (Thrice, He is Legend, The Ramones, The Misfits), and co-engineered by Jeff Klein, Artificial Hero began simply as a batch of songs. Yet through David's vision and the band's evergrowing bond as songwriters, it became a cohesive piece about feigning a role. One member considers this album his best work. The CD is marked by personal experience and contains subtle common threads between songs. Even though each song can be very different—for instance the first track is performed a capella, while the rest of the album features a full band—the album is very much a unified piece of art. It will be released in Fall of 2007.
