Some Insight on Clinton T. Hobart
Clinton was born in Philadelphia, grew up in New Jersey and studied Fine Arts and figure drawing at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. It was while attending SVA that he encountered one of his most profound artistic influences. While a junior at SVA, Clinton was invited to participate in an internship at Walt Disney Feature Animation.
During his early years in New York, Clint often spent his free time attending life-drawing sessions at Spring Studio. He believed then, and continues to believe now, that excellent drawing skills are a prerequisite to the creation of great artwork.
After graduating from SVA, Clint moved to Arizona and began teaching classes at the Scottsdale Artists' School. It was there that Clinton met Daniel Greene, who became another dramatic influence upon his work. Clint spent five summers working with Daniel in his studio in North Salem, NY. Daniel purchased Clinton's first portrait, created in one of Daniel's workshops!
After several years and many heartbreaking attempts, it became clear that Clinton was not going to become "Disney material". It was only then that Clinton started to paint.
He started painting in oils for the first time upon graduation from art school. Having no job, no money to hire models, and an abundance of time, Clinton started to paint still-lifes for the sole objective of practicing his painting. He had no preconceived idea of his style, nor any desire to become known as a "Realist Painter" or a "Fine Artist". Clinton figured that while practicing, he would try to subtly incorporate the idea of adding a human quality to the objects he painted, or, "anthropomorphizing".
Clinton admits that it was initially difficult to see this element of his work from his images. However, he had always been a fan of movies and acting and had often imagined that the objects in his still-life paintings were actors on a stage. For example, the story behind the painting entitled "Curtain Call" is the pieces within this painting were finished with their performance and taking a bow, thereby the objective in their being lined up on stage.
Taking this idea further, he decided to paint a more complete narrative whereby a stage play became the main theme of the painting. "Almost" (the painting with the masks) is the first in this new series, with several more paintings to follow.
No longer living in Arizona, Clinton has returned to New York city and continues to teach workshops throughout the world.
His work is currently shown within many private collections nationally and internationally. Clinton's collectors include CEO's, actors, several well known artists, and prominent international business personnel throughout the far corners of the world.
Please join me in welcoming this very talented man, Mr. Clinton T. Hobart.
Enjoy, my friends!

Who Am I Anyhow?
To clarify some of the confusion, my name is Rea (pronounced "raya"). It is a gaelic name that has been passed on through my father's family for generations.
Gala.Rea is an intentional play on words. It is a derivative of one of my companies, Gala Rea ~ By Design. Incorporating Gala with my name (Rea), it becomes two independent entities ... 1) Galleria (Gala Rea) ... and 2) Gala Rea (celebrate Rea).
I am an international visual and performing artist (in multiple mediums) and producer within the arts, fashion, and entertainment industries.
Despite the efforts of respected medical professional parents, the arts were always (all-ways too) a natural evolution within my life. Hence, I compromised my passion by declining initial modelling offers, and sadly declined studing art, dance, and fashion design in New York city (although studying extensively along the north / south Pacific West Coast).
Becoming a special education teacher with young children for several years, my focus was upon creative and linguistic development. And while this industry was rewarding, there was always "a little something" still missing ...
Preparing for law school entrance exams thereafter, yet another art-related project was offered to me ... and despite repeatedly declining their offers, the pay scale kept increasing to a point whereby my career left the corporate professional world (somewhat) behind, bringing me to the present. And, what a tremendous journey it has been ... (wink, wink)
And ... as conveyed within my personal ~ rea ~ MySpace Profile:
I plead the fifth ... Although my Laguna Beach, California "aLagunatic" nickname speaks volumes!
Some constructive personal insight ...
Quality Supersedes Quantity!
Born a Canadian ~ and proud of it ~ I frequently traveled to the tropics and artistic heartbeat communities in multiple locales throughout my life. The Bay area and Paris, France have had a particularly profound influence on both my cultural and spiritual developments.
From early childhood, I have been (and remain) extensively involved in the arts, academics, spirituality, and (previously) national level sports and dance, Dance, DANCE (i.e. have a voracious appetite to explore, learn, and create).

My Interests

Passionate about life and creativity ... and ... being somewhat of a maverick, I tend to live life "on the edge" (meaning that sometimes you fly ... whereby other times ... you may just fall off the ledge).

Personally believing in the "glass is half full perspective", Bob Hope would respond: "Well, that all depends ... upon whether you are pouring ... or ... drinking!"

I have enjoyed the good fortune to travel extensively through life on many levels, meeting numerous outstanding people along the way ... while often going where few women have previously traveled.

As for what transpires hereafter, only time will tell ... Although, Peter Pan had tremendous insight in maintaining his inner child (i.e. rea + growing up = ain't gonna happen).

Cheers!

I'd like to meet:

People who are unique, creative, demonstrate intelligence and high motivation, are independent, passionate about life, "light on baggage" (I have enough of my own ... wink, wink), and exercise integrity, dignity, and respect.

Perhaps ... YOU!

The objective of this profile is to bring qualified artists from multiple diversified backgrounds together. This includes, but is not limited to: photographers, painters, illustrators, graphic designers, sculptors, jewelers, fashion designers, stylists, make-up artists, musicians, dancers, models, authors, poets, screen writers, producers, directors, etc.

Utilizing an extensive production background, coupled with being an artist in multiple mediums, I am presently acquiring a data base of relevant "juried MySpace artists" who are invited to participate.

Once sufficient numbers per various categories have been acquired, relevant new MySpace concepts will be introduced.

Stay tuned for further information on this profile's future!

Music:

LOTSA, LOTSA music!

My taste in music (and life) is very eclectic ~ including but not limited to:

Rock (both classic and hard), the blues, some jazz, folk, a'Capella, alternative, electronica, experimental, unique new age, diversified ethnic, Celtic, classical (particularly piano), and unique music that moves my body, spirit, and soul.

Such as (mainstream): The Beatles ... Rolling Stones ... Eric Clapton ... Cream ... Steve Winwood ... Jimi Hendrix ... The Doors ... Jefferson Airplane ... Yardbirds ... Crosby Stills and Nash ... J.J. Cale ... Tom Petty ... Leonard Cohen ... Aerosmith ... Robert Cray ... John Lee Hooker ... B.B. King ... Tim Buckley (yessire! ~ Jeffery Buckley's Dad) ... Curtis Mayfield ... Al Green ... Billie Holiday ... Bob Marley ... Kenny G ... Sade ... Tom Waits ... Rickie Lee Jones ... Marianne Faithfull ... Alanis Morisette ... Kitaro ... Enya ... Giovanni ... Arthur Rubinstein ... Leonard Pennario ... Chopin ... Chopin ... MORE Chopin ...

... The List Continues ...

As an extensively trained dancer (30-years, since age three) and classically trained pianist, I LUV MUSIC!!

Please refer to my personal ~ rea ~ profile for additional information

Movies:

Having been both in front of and behind the camera ... essentially enjoy the comedy, tragedy, and joy of life ~ when done well spontaneously.

A significant part of a successful film lies in the hands of the director. Personal favorites include: ... Frank Capra ... Orson Welles ... Robert Altman ... Stanley Kubrick ... Federico Fellini ... Brian dePalma ... Michael Mann ... David Lynch ... Timothy Burton ... (to be continued) ... with any leading edge director who sees / hears / feels / breathes the pulse of the writer's intention and further, delivers their message effectively to a discriminating audience (i.e. successfully charting through new artistic territory).

Television:

TV has traditionally played a background role within my life. While not one to vegetate in front of a screen, television occasionally serves as a personally constructive medium which is subsequently incorporated into my work.

That said, watching re-runs of some of "the classics" (regardless of the initial release date), documentaries, and ~ perhaps surprisingly ~ the occasional well edited reality television show (Liz Gately is "pretty on" with reality TV production).

Books:

Previously a voracious reader, my present lifestyle does not accommodate settling into a good book these days.

From a former life, historical novels interfaced with fiction remain a favorite.

Heroes:

Those who have the passion, courage, and talent ~ and who dare to follow their dreams successfully ~ regardless of others' perceptions ...

Personal kudos also include people who contribute freely from their hearts to assist those in need and / or try to preserve the planet.

On a personal level:
Came to a Crossroads while traveling through Paradise ... (EC, I know you're with me on this one).

And, of course, my fabulous deceased father ~ one of the kindest, most honorable men who ever walked this planet!
