About Me

I am someone to myself but no one to others, always invisible to the ones that matter most yet full of turmoil from within as I cope with loss and collect the fallen pieces of my beleaguered soul...
I am a warrior in constant battle, struggling to survive so he may fight another day yet I find pride in the struggles that I had overcome.
I am an observer whose faith in the beauty of life is tainted by the pain and sorrow he has witnessed yet hope abounds for someday I will enjoy some of life's elusive pleasures and understand its meaning...
Perpetually wounded, I am like steel that is hardened through time yet hoping never to become brittle from the excessive burdens of fate...
I am a sailor underway aboard the ship of life. Having traveled more rough seas than calm waters, I believe that life is not solely about the pursuit of happiness but a mission not apparent until it has been completed to the fullest extent...
I am a man of contradictions whose lenient moral flexibility is forever tempered by unbending principles...

I am an entity in transition and fraught with the pressures of inevitable change...

I am Edward.

Personal Background

I am a former U.S. Navy engineer and a veteran of Operations Desert Shield and Storm. I currently work as a Chief Engineer for a global real estate company and assigned to a two-building complex. My responsibilities are to ensure the efficient operation, maintenance, repair and upgrade of all building systems such as HVAC, Electrical, Mechanical and Integrated Automation which includes Energy Management, Access Control and Security Video. My collateral duties as a CompTIA-certified computer dude include network administration of three separate LAN's for the office domain and building automation systems and webmaster duties for the Building Website. I also do graphics design for Building announcements or events and set planning, drafting and design for themed-outdoor or indoor events. I work a lot...

Quiz of the Moment

You Are an Emo Rocker!
Expressive and deep, lyrics are really your thing.
That doesn't mean you don't rock out...
You just rock out with meaning.
For you, rock is more about connecting than grandstanding. What Kind of Rocker Are You?

My Interests

Guitar and Vocals (...I'm more of an acoustic dude... to the dismay of my neighbors). Target Shooting with my Beretta. Graphics Design. Computers. Driving my Mercedes (although it is in desperate need of a washing). Watching Maria Sharapova play tennis all day :). My guilty pleasures are: (a) Exotic Dancers (b) Hair Metal (c) Watching exotic dancers strut their stuff to hair metal (It's like I died and gone to heaven !!!)

I'd like to meet:

Old friends, new friends, imaginary friends, the cast of "Friends" and cool people in general... and perhaps, Jessica Alba, Katherine Heigl, Morena Baccarin, Scarlett Johansson, Majandra Delfino, Juliya Chernetsky, Michelle Ryan and the creator of the Morning Bun ;)New Page 2

ATTENTION: My list of friends is in random order so don't be trippin' if you're not Number 1. Besides, I could be saving the best for last or I may be dyslexic... Anyway, "Tom" is my only true friend and I heard he is friends with everyone

Music:

Alternative, Progressive/ Adult Alternative, Progressive Metal, Indie/ Emo, Guitar-based Rock, House/ Techno, Dance, Industrial and Power Pop (especially if they use less than 6 basic chords... hee hee hee). I also like Big Band jazz and swing. I used to be an "elitist" when it came to music with immature notions such as "Metal sucks..." or "Only alternative and no pop..." or worse, "Country is cheesey..." but that was me the "listener" talking. As soon as I became a musician, I have learned to appreciate the complexity and uniqueness of the different genres of music. They are all good and my guitar repertoire consists of popular songs from alternative to country.

I've had an acoustic guitar for a long time but I never really started playing seriously until recently after my mother's passing. I found it a therapeutic distraction from my unexpected loss. I really like playing guitar and it is quite a challenge to play and sing at the same time. Also, I've always wanted to write songs and I just realized that my main motivation for joining MySpace was to make music in cognito. I am really a shy person and I find it easier to post songs under the comforting blanket of quasi-anonymity. Please feel free to check out my Music Page .

Guitar & Vocals Repertoire:

Here are some songs that I can play and sing on acoustic:

Howie Day - "Collide" (This is my warm-up song) Oasis - "Wonderwall" (I've always liked this song) Lifehouse - "You and Me" (This was my serenade to somebody but it didn't work) Ryan Cabrera - "True" (Half-step down tuning and without the appregio) Anna Nalick - "Breathe" (I heard this on the radio so why not give it a try) Avril Lavigne - "I'm with You" (My niece likes this) Weezer - "Island in the Sun" (I heard this in the movie 'Out Cold') Green Day - "Good Riddance" (I like the 'old' Green Day) Michelle Branch - "Goodbye To You" (My niece likes her too) Mazzy Star - "Fade Into you" (Reminds me of a former love interest) Sixpence None the Richer - "Kiss Me" (A favorite with everyone I know and I must admit, the song is cleverly written) Duncan Sheik - "Barely Breathing" (Easy to play) 3 Doors Down - "Here Without You" (Without the appregio) Staind - "Right Here" (Half-step Down Tuning and without the fast picking) Vertical Horizon - "Best I Ever Had" (This was a request) Sum 41 - "Pieces" (Cool song with only 5 basic chords, woohoo !) Luis Miguel - "Sabor A Mi" (For the latin babes in the office) Jesse McCartney - "Beautiful Soul" (Would make a good serenade with only 4 repeating chords, woohoo !) Gavin DeGraw - "Follow Through" (Another one that makes good serenade material and it helped me overcome my hatred of the F-Chord - I use Fmaj7 instead) The Calling - "Wherever You Will Go" (This is the song that whenever I sing it, everybody goes "wow") Extreme - "More Than Words" (This was a request) James Blunt - "You're Beautiful" (I sing it a half-step or two down) Hoobastank - "The Reason" (Key of C and Capo 2 so it's easier to play and sing) Breathe - "Hands to Heaven" (I'm loading up on sappy songs and this song only uses 4 chords and one of which, just occasionally) Radney Foster - "I'm In" (Cool song...) Keith Urban - "You'll Think of Me" (Here's a piece of Australian Country and it's a good song) Ryan Cabrera - "On The Way Down" (This song is great but quite hard to play) Santana & Chad Kroeger or Alex Band - "Why Don't You and I" (Cool song and easy chords) Aqualung - "Brighter Than Sunshine" (Really, really, really cool song) Blue October - "Calling You" (Another great song with simple chords) Fuel - "Shimmer" (Still practicing this one...) Radney Foster - "Raining on Sunday" (Another cool song...) Depeche Mode - "It Doesn't Matter" (Kickass song by Martin Gore) Missy Higgins - "Scar" (Cool song) Ashlee Simpson - "Pieces of Me" (Cool song but the opening riff takes practice) Radiohead - "High and Dry" (This song has only 3 chords !!!) Nick Lowe - "Cruel to be Kind" (This is the first song I tried to play on the guitar) Natalie Imbruglia - "Torn" (Whatever happened to her ?) Green Day - "Novocain" (Easy song to play) Better Than Ezra - "Good" (Good song with 4 repeating chords) LeAnn Rimes - "But I do Love You" (Cool song) Keane - "Is It Any Wonder" (I just realized that the band consists of lead vocals, keyboards and drums... that's it !) LeAnn Rimes - "I Need You" (Serenade material) Sixpence None the Richer - "Tonight" (I like this band) Snow Patrol - "Chasing Cars" (Great song with just three chords) Keane - "Somewhere Only We Know" (Cool song) Stretch Princess - "Sorry" (Four chords and great lyrics) Stretch Princess - "Shoes" (Great song and I actually tabbed this myself !) Stretch Princess - "Nice Thing" (One of their best songs) Death Cab For Cutie - "I'll Follow You Into The Dark" (Great song, great band) Neve - "It's Over Now" (Another great song but I play it a half-step down) Landon Pigg - "Can't Let Go" (I play it with Capo on 4th in the key of F... or is it C ?) Oleander - "Halo" (Really great song) Finch - "Letters To You" (Played with Capo on 1st in the key of C) Bic Runga - "Sway" (Pretty cool song) Luis Miguel - "La Gloria Eres Tu"Blessid Union of Souls - "Let Me Be the One"Verve Pipe - "Freshmen"Colin Hay - "Overkill" (Played a full step down in the key of G)Lisa Loeb - "Stay" (This is the first song that I really wanted to play when I first bought my guitar but never learned how until now)Wood - "Never A Day Goes By" (I play this with the capo on 5, Really great song)Shawn Colvin - "When You Know" (Really really great song and I had to tab this myself because it is nowhere to be found on the Net)Evan & Jaron - "Crazy For This Girl" (Cool song)Evan & Jaron - "The Distance" (Sappy but cool)Semisonic - "Closing Time" (Easy song)Sarah McLachlan - "Ice Cream" (Easy Song)Sarah McLachlan - "Good Enough" (Better Song than "Ice Cream")Jump Little Children - "Close Your Eyes" (Really cool song!)Chris Isaak - "Wicked Game" (Great song)Corinne Bailey Rae - "Like A Star" (Easy enough song)Staind - "It's Been A While" (Easier to sing than their other song...)Plain White T's - "Hey There Delilah" (Wonderful Song !)Toby Lightman - "Everyday" (This song is pretty good)Sense Field - "Save Yourself" (Another good song)Sara Bareilles - "One Sweet Love" (Easy chords and a good song to boot)Saving Jane - "Sleep On It" (Cool Song)Ari Hest - "A Fond Farewell" (Great song and talented artist)Ingrid Michaelson - "The Way I Am" (She's really cute and her song has no bridge)The Smiths - "Everyday Is Like Sunday" (A classic ! )

Movies:

Anything military or with Action + Science Fiction and perhaps the occasional chick or teen flick. Anything with John Cusack. That dude has never been in a movie that I didn't like. I also like all the Arnold movies for some reason. Perhaps it's my inner Republican ;), ha ha.

Television:

Old reruns of The X-Files, Buffy, Angel, Star Trek and Roswell. Stargate with all its variations. Battlestar Galactica, London Live on Mojo, Multi-channel MTV/VH1 and Music Choice. Grey's Anatomy and ER if I remember to record them. Sometimes, stuff on BBC America, Human Weapon on the History Channel, stuff on the Military Channel, Science Channel and Cartoon Network. Anything with Giada De Laurentiis on the Food Network

Books:

My favorite is Homer's "The Illiad" and "The Odyssey". I rarely read fiction because my job requires a more "technical" reading list... I pretty much stick to the classics. Besides, I have too much web-based training to complete and .. classes... I also like Art Deco graphics design books which I use to create posters at work

Heroes:
