I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm Maja (pronounced Maya), I'm 21 years old, and I'm a huge psy head. Psy trance OWNS me and I really feel it speaks the language of my soul. I am totally addicted to it and if you can't accept that, move on...it's a major part of who I am and it's one thing that keeps me alive and going. It's completely changed my perspective on life and has transformed me completely. Understand it or not, that's me, so take it or leave it :P
However, I have a deep passion for all electronic music...from jungle to progressive house and everything in between. I can never get enough of those raw, filthy, grimy basslines that make everything in the room shake...there's nothing better. I also love industrial, synthpop, darkwave, and electro. Indian and Middle Eastern music is my guilty pleasure...oh, and sitars...sexiest instruments ever!
I graduated from the School of Audio Engineering in New York City in July of 2005, but I haven't been too lucky with getting a job and I'm not sure if I even want to work in the audio industry anymore, besides DJing of course ;)
Yep, I'm a DJ, and I spin both vinyl and CD's. I mostly spin psy trance and downtempo / chillout, but I also have a variety of records ranging from hardcore to house to jungle that I'm known to pull out and play from time to time.
Hmmm, so I guess I could plug in some shameless self-promotion here, so here we go...

*** PSY TRANCE ***Dissociative Trip (2005)Metamorphosis (2005)Down The Rabbit Hole (2006)From Dusk Til Dawn (2007)
*** DOWNTEMPO / CHILLOUT ***Collective Consciousness (2007)
I started going to "raves" in 2000 and I went to my first party in New York in 2001. I used to go to parties in New York City all the time so some of you have probably already met me at some point. I don't go to parties as much as I used to, but I go to as many psy events as possible :P
As far as looks go, I have vibrant green eyes, bright red hair, 15 piercings (1/2" lobes, 6g second ear lobes, 2 industrials, 3 cartilages, lip, tongue web, nostril, both nipples, and belly button), and an OM tattoo on the back of my neck (more coming soon...)
I really like meeting new, interesting people, but I'm really shy at first...at least until I get to know someone better and feel comfortable around them. Although I can be really extroverted at times, for the most part, I'm an introvert. I have a hard time talking to people, especially when I'm forced to. I am a person that needs a lot of "alone" time, but when it's time to party, I do it like it's my job. I'm really mature for my age and often people think I'm a lot older (which is both a positive and a negative thing).
I'm very open-minded and I love having deep, intelligent conversations with people about random topics...I love being mentally stimulated. I consider myself quite the spiritual being who ultimately seeks out enlightenment and a better understanding of the universe and this thing we call reality.
I incorporate many New Age beliefs into my life and I am very interested in Neo-Pagan, Eastern, and ancient religions. I don't follow a specific religion, but I do believe in a higher power, the universal life force, which runs through us all. I believe in alternate realities that are happening simultaneously and in different layers of consciousness that we can travel in and out of. I truly believe that my soul comes from deep within the cosmos and I'm planning on returning there again when the time is right.
I'm open to all religions since I feel they are all separate paths leading to the same destination, which is total enlightenment, if you can get past all the manipulating tricks of organized religion, that is ;)
Oh yea...and I'm a vegetarian...I'm not one of those crazy kinds that flip out on their friends if they see them holding a burger, but I do have my reasons for it and I wish people would respect my choice and not preach to me that humans are the top of the food chain and that it's our right to eat other animals or that they don't know any better because their brains are smaller than the size of a pea and all that fun nonsense :)
And yes, just like everyone else out there, I have my fair share of issues, but I feel that makes me all the more interesting ;)

*~ Color My World ~*
You are The Fool card. The Fool fearlessly begins
the journey into the unknown. To do this, he
does not regard the world he knows as firm and
fixed. He has a seemingly reckless disregard
for obstacles. In the Ryder-Waite deck, he is
seen stepping off a cliff with his gaze on the
sky, and a rainbow is there to catch him. In
order to explore and expand, one must disregard
convention and conformity. Those in the throes
of convention look at the unconventional,
non-conformist personality and think, "What a
fool". They lack the point of view to understand
The Fool's actions. But The Fool has roots in
tradition as one who is closest to the spirit
world. In many tribal cultures, those born with
strange and unusual character traits were held
in awe. Shamans were people who could see
visions and go on journeys that we now label
hallucinations and schizophrenia. Those with
physical differences had experience and
knowledge that the average person could not
understand. The Fool is God. The number of the
card is zero, which when drawn is a perfect
circle. This circle represents both emptiness
and infinity. The Fool is not shackled by
mountains and valleys or by his physical body.
He does not accept the appearance of cliff and
air as being distinct or real.
Your Brain's Pattern
You have a dreamy mind, full of fancy and fantasy. You have the ability to stay forever entertained with your thoughts. People may say you're hard to read, but that's because you're so internally focused. But when you do share what you're thinking, people are impressed with your imagination.
What Pattern Is Your Brain?
Your Personality Is Like Acid
A bit wacky, you're very difficult to predict.
One moment you're in your own little happy universe...
And the next, you're on a bad trip to your own personal hell!
What Drug Is Your Personality Like?
Your Match: INFP
The Idealist
You are creative with a great imagination, living in your own inner world. Open minded and accepting, you strive for harmony in your important relationships. It takes a long time for people to get to know you. You are hesitant to let people get close. But once you care for someone, you do everything you can to help them grow and develop.
You would make an excellent writer, psychologist, or artist.
What's Your Personality Type?
.. You scored as Earth-Child
. You're a very peaceful person who has very strong beliefs. Others see you as spiritual, and you really are. You see magic as a resource to be used wisely. The earth really is your mother, and you'll remain close to her as long as you live.

What Kind of Empath Are You?
You are an Elementalist. Your magic stems from the forces of nature. You might be a forest nuturing Druid, a storm creating Weather Wizard, or any of the many Elementals, but one thing is sure - your bond with nature is strong. You can rely heavily on nature to support yourself aesthetically or physically, for it lends you both comfort and strength. Your instincts rarely fail you. You are vibrantly passionate but are sometimes carried away by your own emotions.

I'd like to meet:

I'm always happy to meet like-minded individuals to hang out with, vibe with, trip with, you know the deal...I'd especially like to meet people from different countries, all around the world!

Spiritually aware, psy trance loving, open-minded, nature loving, curious beings surrounded by good energy who genuinely enjoy life and what it has to offer are a major plus :) Also, fearless natural born travelers...people who love to explore the world, experience different cultures, and expand their boundaries!

Also, someone who could teach me Hebrew...a native speaker, preferably. I'm not making much progress learning by myself, but I definitely have the drive needed to learn any language. I have a passion for foreign languages and I want to attain some level of fluency in at least a handful of them :)

And just for the record, I'd love to find someone, guy or girl, that is a fellow psy addict, is artistic, spiritual, kind, caring, creative, unique, and an all around good vibes person to call my own and vice versa...yes, I know I sound a little desperate but I'm really not. I'm just listing what I'd love to find someday...a person I could spend the rest of my life with...I know you're out there somewhere...maybe not in America, but somewhere. I know I'll find you one day ;)

Psyforia still continues to be one of the most enjoyable events I have played at so far. My crowd was, by far, one of the most dedicated, loving, and energetic group of party people I have ever played for. Lots of love to the Boston & Wesleyan kids
