About Me

Shani Nwando Ikerioha Collins (SNIC), a New York based artist, native of Greensboro, NC, received a high school diploma from the North Carolina School of the Arts; earned a BA in Dance at Hollins University, where she spent a semester studying dance, music, and theater at the University of North London; granted the American Dance Festival (ADF) Martha Myers Choreography Award and selected, choreographer in residence at Bates Dance Festival, 2004. Collins has taught/ performed nationally and internationally with Ronald K. Brown/ EVIDENCE, Urban Bush Women, Bill T. Jones/ Arnie Zane Dance Company, Nathan Trice/ RITUALS, David Dorfman Dance, Marlies Yearby, The National Dance Company of Mozambique, and in Trinidad with Makeda Thomas’ Roots and Wings Movement. Eternal Works, founded by SNIC, co-produces women’s empowerment/ healing workshops in Brooklyn and at the ADF with Phakiso Collins’ Quiet As Its Kept, an ongoing documentary; SNIC’s Eternal Works has performed at Judson Church, Lincoln Theater, Aaron Davis Hall, Hollins University, LIU’s Kumble Theater, Dixon Place, St. Marks Church, The Ailey School, Howard University, and in Mexico at the Performatica Dance Festival, 2007. SNIC is a recipient of the 2006 New York (Bessie) Performance Award and is currently performing with Ronald K. Brown/ Evidence, on faculty at ADF, and developing her vision through Eternal Works. ..

I finally finished the Celestine Prophecy and now I'm reading Breaking Bread-Insurgent Black Intellectual life by bell hooks and Cornel West.We have a different type of fight for revolution... fight with our minds and get stronger together. Ya know!
