I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Hi! I'm Tiffiny...and yes, it's really spelled T-i-f-f-i-n-y. Unique, I say! It helped me to escape the curse of the "Tiffany," which would predestine me to be a ditzy, blonde cheerleader. I've still got the ditz...but thank god not the cheerleader!:-)

I graduated from the University of Utah in Film Studies, and currently "living the dream" of Hollywood--without the money and fame part. My ambition is to ultimately pursue screenwriting and prose writing professionally, and maybe take a couple other side things on along the way.
In terms of what I like...pretty damned near everything. There's very little I hate, but coconut is one of them. Coconuts and beets, unless the beets come from this restaurant in Bountiful, Utah called Robintinos. Check'em out! I love writing, reading, talking, learning new things, cooking, watching movies, listening to music, watching the Food Network because I'm a dork, meeting new people, going to parties and events...everything, as long as I'm doing something. I also love animals (especially dogs), and am a self-proclaimed, complete dork. I LOVE "Star Wars," but am intelligent enough to admit that Episodes 1 and 2 were subpar, with Episode 3 just barely bordering on decency. In fact, if you've never seen ANY of the "Star Wars," just see Episodes IV-VI...you'll be much happier that way.
I'm one of those people who is pretty optimistic about one day succeeding, and I don't let discouragements hold me back. One of those damned "unconquerable spirits" people...the kind that super villains hate because their persistence is so irritating. :) Plus, I don't like to disappoint people (myself included), so hopefully I won't and I'll actually make it somewhere someday. LOL!

My Interests

how jedi are you? :: by lawrie malen Writing, reading, movies, music, cooking, the internet, being silly, conversing about both serious and silly things (the similarities between Communism and chickens!), animals, piano, learning, piano...I'm sure there's butt loads more...but I can't think of it all. OH! And yeah...I'm a dork...I LOVE "Star Wars."

I'd like to meet:

I've already met the guy of my dreams, but I wouldn't mind meeting Josh Groban and Harrison Ford again. Friendship wise, I like everyone and enjoy meeting new people from all backgrounds, as long as you're not dumb and mean. If we had to get down to specifics though...the first and biggest things I'd like a friend to have are intelligence, kindness, humor, a love for movies, and music...and did I mention intelligence? I can't stand dumb people (saying this because...well...I need to mask my own stupidity :-) ). I'm ditzy myself sometimes...but in a good, cute way.
I'd also love the person to be talkative...always interesting to talk about stuff, and not a person who believes, essentially, in one to two word answers. Inquisitiveness...quick wit...but like I said, I like everyone, as long as you're not bitchy and mean. :-) Did I mention intelligence? Yeah...you have to be able to hold a conversation with me that interests me in some way.

Music:

I love EVERYTHING pretty much. Sure there are some things I can't stand...like twangy country and hard-core rap...but I can deal with pretty much everything. I love classic rock though, alternative, classical, swing, jazz, and yeah...even pop sometimes. Literally, my musical tastes range from Sarah Brightman and Beethoven to Nine Inch Nails and...I'm having a hard time thinking about anyone really contraversial (like Marilyn Manson--and yeah, I like him too). YES, I LOVE Josh Groban. YES, I LOVE the Backstreet Boys. Don't be hata...I can admit it. On top of that, Michael Jackson kicked ass in his pre-crazy days, and Eminem, while he's always been crazy, has some good stuff. Oh...and I LOVE this guy.... What kind of Josh Groban Fan are you?

Movies:

Things with meaning, especially, but I can deal with your post-modern shoot-em-up flick too (for example, I like "Sin City," despite the fact that it's devoid of any real, moral lessons). I'm a big fan of comedies (as long as they're not stupid), and um...yeah. Favorite movies would include "Citizen Kane," "The Departed," the "Star Wars" trilogy, "The Wonder Boys," "Spiderman" and "Spiderman 2," "Sunrise," and "Ikiru." Again with the diverse tastes...and even if a movie sucks, I can usually find something redeeming.

Television:

I'm hooked up to the internet rather than the television. I require mental stimulation and a sense of control of my own destiny usually, and television has a tendency to make me feel as if my life is being sucked away. So--don't watch a lot. It might also have something to do with the fact that I'm poor and no longer can afford cable. I do watch a couple shows though...like I said, I'm a dork and love Food Network. Comedy Central is great ("South Park," baby!), and the E! Channel is surprisingly addictive at times. I love "The Simpsons" too, and my guity pleasures are "Will and Grace," and yeah...even "American Idol." I'm also a Leno fan...Conan's dog bugs me. Triumph the Comic Insult Dog can die.

Books:

"The Picture of Dorian Gray," "The Count of Monte Cristo," "Dracula," "The Crucible" (even though it' a play), "Phantom of the Opera," and pretty much anything that makes me think.

Heroes:

My parents, my sister, my boyfriend, and anyone who stands up for what they believe in, even though the majority says otherwise. Anyone who believes kindness and charity is worth more than getting ahead. Anyone who recognizes the value of all human life, and treats people as people, rather than objects. Take that for what it's worth...it describes a lot of people. My mom, Edward Murrow, Mother Teresa, Gandhi...spiffy people like that.
