"Intensely dark and painfully honest, ECTO-1 is a sonic swirling dervish of spectral chaos. This band spins a unique web of unrelentingly powerful, yet hauntingly memorable hymns for the listener to get caught in. ECTO-1 is a glowing beacon guiding all of the misunderstood into their cold, lightless embrace. A signpost assuring those who have wondered astray to make haste finding their path before the sun descends behind the cemetery gates and the shadows come out to play."
It's simple really. We're a band. Rather than write a hyperbolized, outside perspective of what we are, I’ll attempt to describe our existence the best that I can. We are comprised of four people who come from various backgrounds, musical tastes, philosophies and so on, but also have many shared ideas. Our purpose, we feel, is to exhibit all of these ideas together by means of the music we write. At times, we can seem dark. It is merely a by-product of the world we inhabit. Either from being dismayed by the actions of other “humansâ€, or just a basic interest in the darker subjects. On the other hand, we embrace other topics such as personal change (our own “metamorphoseasons†if you will) and many other reflections on the surrounding world. The music can be heavy and it can be very melodic. We’ll leave the rest up to the listeners to decide, rather than list a plethora of genres trying to brand a perpetually evolving sound. The band formed in 2003. Corey (vocals) was looking for another band aside from now defunct Eerie Ln., Dallas (Guitar) and myself (Ryan/Drums) were wallowing in the failed attempts at starting a band. After a few months and bassists, Filup joined to complete the equation. In December of 2004, after over a year of writing, we released our debut full-length CD on Antidote Records titled “This Cold and Starving Dark: Anthems for the Morose and Misanthropicâ€. All that I can say about the future is hold no expectations. We have no interest in repetitiveness. Our music and ourselves will be forever developing, for we have short attention spans and don’t like to stand still for long periods of time.
