Bonsai Kittens FINAL GIGS SOON!

We're off soon - come and say goodbye!

About Me

Hello. We are Bonsai Kittens.
You may have heard the rumours: that we are going to be put down in a few months' time. We don't doubt that there may be people literally dancing around their living rooms in joy at this news; the rest of you (those of you who don't have a piece of coal where their heart should be), please come to one of our farewell gigs, which are listed above and illustrated below.
Some descriptions of us would probably include comparisons to polyphonic ringtones, The Bangles, Bananarama, Nintendos, and dancing clockwork mice. Other descriptions might describe us as two idiots who can't dance properly and how dare they not have a drummer, it's high time these two were shot in the face with a big gun. To date we have never yet suffered mortal wounds for our art, and I hope that day will never come. Until then, you are welcome to love / hate / be indifferent towards us, and we offer you a selection of our songs [above] and a selection of our upcoming gigs [also above] in order that you may form your own opinion.
We are an entirely DIY band, who take pride in putting out and distributing our own CDs, and organising our own tours and gigs. We prefer to play band-organised gigs in unusual venues like cafes, galleries, or houses. We like the gigs to be arranged for the love of the music, where bands get paid according to what they need for how far they've travelled, with the rest of the money being divided equally among the bands. If you want us to play near you but have never put on a band before, please ask us. We're happy to help. You might find this article helpful .
We have just released our entire back catalogue (20 songs no less) in the form of a compilation album entitled 'Idiot Mittens'. Please contact us if you would like to purchase a copy for £7 (inc. P&P and a badge), which is entirely possible either via Paypal or by the time-honoured 'send us a cheque' method. Or you can get one from us in real life for £6 (without P&P). As well as 5 spanking new songs recorded in May 2007, it contains all the songs on our 3 previously recorded CDs: The Big Laugh Happy Joy Joy Album , Damn You Evil Women, Damn You! , and The Shortbread Agreement .
We used to have t-shirts, but we sold the last one a couple of weeks ago. You could always write our name on a t-shirt using a marker pen if you want to show your support sartorially. We won't sue. Please contact us via My Space or our web site if you want to spend money to listen to us.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: You be looking at it.
Band Members: Two, or three if you count the QY20: two ladies, Sarah and Nik. Their hobbies include listening to metal, playing their guitars, orchestrating synchronised dance moves (and learning to perform them without falling over) and staying up past their bedtime composing trumpet/kazoo/kettle drum solos on their sequencers. You can see their very own individual pages (should you so desire) here:
She who plays guitar
She who plays bass
Influences: The only three bands we both like are Faith No More, The Clash and Erasure. Nik likes Iron Maiden; Sarah is more of a Children of Bodom type girl. They have come to blows over who is the best metal band in the past (and which type of biscuits to eat during practices).
Sounds Like: Nintendo j-pop. The go-gos, The Pixies, Yumi Yumi... depends who you ask really. "Super Mario meets the daleks in We are Devo mode" according to our last review.
Record Label: Perish the thought! It's all about DIY baby...
Type of Label: None
