About Me

Cam writes honest and melodic folk songs about the often darker truth beneath innocence, and performs with intensity and humilty. Often engaging the audience in conversation, then proceeding to woo them with his roguish charm.
After two years of playing out the front of his original rock group fictions, and playing lead guitar for The Mark Wells Band (Telstra Road to Tamworth’s 2008 Songwriting Winner), Cam James played his first "real" solo show in October 2007, in support of American singer-songwriter Ben Kweller.
The better part of the last year has seen Cam writing and demoing volumes of songs, and the final completion of his debut recording "onethousandwords EP" with help from local legend Adam Miller in January 2008. But his main goal is to write a song good enough to be included in a Wes Anderson film.
Cam has been lucky to support the following acts, both solo and with his bands: Ben Kweller, Old Man River, The Sleepy Jackson, Josh Pyke, Dallas Crane, The Cops, Faker, iOTA, Cut Off Your Hands, teenagersintokyo, Something With Numbers & British India.
