Robert was loved by many people, including his fellow inmates. One of his best friends was Richard Cartwright aka Chi-Town. He was also murdered by the state of Texas on May 19th 2005.
This is something paleone wrote about Robert the day after he was executed:
I have seen some horrific news stories about him. Let me tell you, anyone reading this. Robert was such a beautiful soul. I am not putting him on some pedestal. The bible says we are known by our fruits. He was funny, gentle, intelligent, loving. We cannot judge people on one thing that happened in their life.
**there was a middle paragraph, but to save on space and to get the gist of what was said, I put only the 1st and last**
Show some love to your neighbors. Show some love to your "enemies". Love the unloveable. If we love only the loveable, how hard would that be? Life would be easy to just love the easy people to love. Try out loving the "unloveable" for once, and know what you will realize? That they were loveable afterall. You will see the outpouring of Joy that God will bestow in your life.
Anyone who's life was touched by Robert Shields before or after his death. This is a site in honor of him.
Robert listened to a variety of music. Mostly he enjoyed Punk and Industrial. In his last Radio show from KDOL ( a local station in Livingston who does shout outs to the prisoners) he had requested that I make him a mix Cd. On that CD was: Skinny Puppy, Dead Kennedys, Ministry, Front242, Black Flag, Primus, Headnoise, and Flatfoot56.
