DB (Dat Boi) Chinkz, born Jordan Williams in 1989, at the North York General Hospital is an aspiring Canadian lyricist. His mother gave birth to him at the tender age of 17, and while she finished college he stayed with his grandmother and two aunts. DB’s father was somewhat in the picture, but he struggled to maintain the connection that a father and son should have. Growing up in Rexdale, Chinkz was somewhat of an outcast, he was popular none the less, but couldn’t truly experience the freedom he wanted. This was because his aunts and grandmother feared he would wind up dead on some street, for some reason. A natural artist, Chinkz decided to pick up rapping as a hobby when he was 16. He recorded using a computer mic, and eventually developed the skills to edit and master his tracks to have a somewhat studio quality. For the first three years, friends would come by and spit quick 16s with the young prospect until he decided to take his poetry more seriously. Wanting to experience more freedom and escape the pressures of his older guardians, he eventually moved to Brampton, with his mother, halfway through grade 11. On December 3rd, 2007, DB Chinkz dropped his first mixtape, Urban Philosophy, in which he recorded on mostly industry beats, and had only a handful of original tracks. His rhymes are primarily conscious, with unique word play, and word choice. At the age of 19, this philosopher is continuing to pursue his goal, reaching out to the minds of everyone who listens to his creative dialogue and high energy hooks. Not only is he trying to make a name for himself, but Chinkz is also the head of the rap group, consisting of friends he had for a while, No Tolerance (NO.T). He and NO.T share a common dislike for commercial music which is dominantly about greed and material possessions. Aside from graphic design, Chinkz loves spending his time recording music and has his sights set on 2008 as being a year full of opportunities, growth and recognition.
