I am here for Dating, Friends and Networking

About Me

I think about Airstream trailers. I'd like to rehab one someday, and then I'd like to drive it around and stay in it for a summer. It's the reason I have a station wagon.I was a womens studies minor. It was important for me at the time, but a lot of it seems like "a big baloney sandwich," now. I AM SO allowed to enjoy cooking dinner.Could someone get Elvis Costello to hum in my ear at bedtime?

My Interests

music/local bands/shows/bars- local bands who play shows at local bars, really great manners (i need practice), indie craft/art, eatin' at fancy organic local food type restaurants and artisanal cheese and mispronouncing artisanal, modern design- esp. that made from sustainable or renewable resources. I love to look at floor plans and dream of actually building a house with my own hands. Plumming looks hard, but I think I could do electricity.

I'd like to meet:

Martin Luther. Laura Ingalls Wilder. Jane Addams. People that get me to do stuff I normally would not do. People who like to have a whiskey (or gingerale) at the Montrose Saloon.

Music:

The National,Clap Your Hands, Arcade Fire, Dismemberment Plan, Interpol, Los Lobos' KIKO, I just discovered that NWA is fantastic for one's booty. Polyphonic Spree don't sound great on record, but live? My heart swells. The Tossers, Arrivals, Hail to the Thief. I'm pretty sure I had a religious experience with Andrew Bird at the Empty Bottle, Nora OConnor, Blue Meanies (RIP), Kingston Trio, Magnetic Fields. Assorted indie/punk rock & Neil Diamond. Mixes from my friends. Ben Folds.

Movies:

Almost Famous. High Fidelity. Heathers. Laurel Canyon. Anniversary Party. I like movies and all, but I consume them and move on. I like a good story and a nice character study, but I don't get all moved or anything. Movies are never as great as seeing Rudy Day at the Hideout etc.

Television:

Scrubs. I don't have cable and I really miss Adult Swim on Cartoon Network. I loved Space Ghost Cartoon Planet, but not Space Ghost Coast to Coast. Family Guy makes me pee a little bit every time.

Books:

I like everything by Ellen Gilchrist. Freedom Summer. How I became Hettie Jones, Minor Characters by Joyce Johnson. I Know this Much is True by Wally Lamb. Middlesex was great. "Lamb: The Gospel accoridng to Bif, Christ's Childhood Pal," is hysterical.

Heroes:

My grandma helped move her family farm (by wagon) from Allegan to Fremont in the 1910's. She told me about getting all the cattle and animals across the river. I think that's pretty neat, and I would surely fail, given the same task. Of course, they had to go feed their horses between church services on Sundays too, so her life was kind of different than mine I guess.
