About Me

I am a New York-based composer and performer. In addition to composing with various notational practices, I am also deeply committed to the art of improvisation and have worked in various forms of jazz, punk, electronic and experimental music. ____________________________________________________________ _______________I am currently the director of Wet Ink, a composers collective and ensemble dedicated to experimental contemporary music. I have also collaborated with ensembles including the Ensemble Cairn (Paris), the New Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra (Leipzig), the Janecek Philharmonic (Czech Republic), the SEM Ensemble (New York), MATA Micro Orchestra (New York), Red Light (New York), Present Music (Milwaukee) and the Vega String Quartet (Atlanta). Some upcomming projects include new pieces for the Paris Conservatoire, the Ensemble XXI (Dijon), Due East (New York) and Les Percussions de Strasbourg. ____________________________________________________________ _______________I studied saxophone and clarinet with Bunky Green and Richard Oatts and have studied composition with Tristan Murail, Fred Lerdahl, Nils Vigeland and Sebastian Currier. I have a bachelor’s degree in performance and a master’s degree in composition from the Manhattan School of Music and am currently a doctoral candidate in composition at Columbia University, where I am also a music history instructor. ____________________________________________________________ _______________Please visit my website for upcoming shows and more sounds.
